OVERVIEW

Limited edition tan skin adorns this low-wattage tone machine.

Among the various VOX tube amps, the AC4 has remained one of the most popular over the years, as they provide a simple and hassle-free way to enjoy the rich sound of a tube-driven amp. While previous models were equipped with a 10" speaker, this limited edition tan model features a 12" Celestion speaker that delivers even more robust sound levels. With diamond grille cloth and basket-weave vinyl exterior, it also carries on the classic looks of the VOX tradition. This is a Class A tube amp that you can enjoy whether you're practicing at home, performing live or recording.

The AC30's Top Boost sound has fascinated guitarists around the world for over fifty years. Capable of massive crunch or the clean, classic "chime," this Top Boost tone is the essence of VOX's identity. The AC4 now delivers this unbeatable sound in a portable, compact body. Gain control, Bass and Treble tone controls, and a Master Volume allow any player to easily recreate this historic sound.

Comments about Vox Limited Edition AC4 4W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Tan:

My go to guitar is my G&L S-500.. and those magnetic field design pickups straight into this simplified boost channel is ridiculous! Roll the tone back and you get so much crunch! It's a powerful 4 watts, too. So you can just turn the volume and gain to like 3 o clock and use every drop of power this amp has to offer. And that 12" speaker brings it all together because it fills the entire room. 300 and you are getting great tube quality. Plus this limited edition color is 50 cheaper than the standard black one!? Can't go wrong.

This has become my go to amp. Simply put - I love it - I have become a VOX convert! I bought this because the deal was too good to pass up but after using it I find that it is the only amp I want to play through - it is only 4 Watts but mic it and it can be used to play out. Buy It!

Comments about Vox Limited Edition AC4 4W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp Tan:

I was looking for was the Top Boost Vox sound in an amp that didn't weigh more than my car, and with the AC4C1-12 I found it. This amp is listed as an AC4C1, but it's actually the AC4C!-12 (12:" speaker) in a tan cabinet. In fact, the tan tolex was what made me decide to pull the trigger on this. Let's face it - this amp looks HOT! If polygamy were legal in VA, this would be my second wife. Many have complained that the amplifier is too trebly - if does distort pretty aggressively in the high end - but dialing the treble knob back does tame this. The bass and treble knobs are very interactive, and turning one will affect the other. This is apparently an inherent characteristic of the original Top Boost circuit - if I move the treble knob past 12 o'clock, it increases treble (duh) but also decreases bass. Oh, bass response is another thing people have complained about with this amp. Even with the 12" speaker, the bass response is a bit subdued, but at higher volume levels it fills out nicely. For kicks, I ran it through an Egnater Rebel 112 cabinet, and it made a HUGE difference in sound - much more bass, more clarity, and it simply sounded bigger. At first I liked it, a lot. But then I unplugged that extension cab and realized that part of the charm and character of this amp is coming from that built-in Vox VX12 speaker. Through the Egnater cab it sounded like a completely different amplifier, and even though it could have been considered an "improvement" of sorts, it didn't have the cool vintage vibe that the stock speaker has. I play a standard telecaster, and Gretsch Pro Jet (upgraded with HS Filtertron pickups) and a telecaster with P90's though it, and couldn't be happier. This amp takes pedals nicely, but I'm only using a delay a reverb for the most part - the natural overdrive from the amp is good enough for me. I do use a boost for leads, but I rarely ever play leads to most of the time I'm just grinding away with the amp's distortion.
