This is a great bass for the price. sounds awesome acoustically and plugged in. The satin finish looks very natural (wood isn't naturally shiny) The tone of this bass is great and it even sounds good when playing slap bass.
my electric bass is fretless and i use fender tapewounds so this bass was a completely new experience. the action is high, but not unplayably high, and the strings are roundwounds, not as finger friendly as tapewounds, but expected.
This bass plays very well and is a joy to own. acoustically it is fairly loud, although you might have to use a pick (I know a lot of pick haters out there would disagree) but it is sometimes necessary to cut through the sound of other instruments. This bass won't out-play any other acoustic instruments but it is able to play with them. Electrically this bass is a little weak, it has alot of finger noise but if the tone is turned all the way down it sounds almost the same through the amp as it does acoustically.
This bass does great when jamming with an acoustic guitar or two and even a cajon (box drum) or other slightly quiet percussion.
Overall this is an amazing acoustic bass that is fun to play and is loud enough to be used as it is intended; Acoustically
good tuners, straight neck, well dressed frets, no buzzing when fretted with enough pressure, and nice finish. The only complaint I have is the one strap button (common with acoustic guitars) so i just use string to tie my strap to the headstock. still an awesome bass nonetheless
best value as far as acoustic basses go. This thing rocks and its cheap too. You can get that acoustic bass sound you've been looking for without breaking the bank.

This is a good price, good for beginners. But if you have the money I suggest you buy one that is better. If you can't then this will be fine. The things I find wrong with this bass is that the bridge is close to the bridge pins causing the double wrap at the end of the string to come over the saddle making it discord sharp and I really don't see an adjustment I could make on it, but the action of the neck is good. It's loud enough to play with one acoustic guitar but anymore you would need a bass amp. It's not as loud as an electric bass when plugged in. The tuning keys feel cheap so be slow when tuning it or the tuners could break off, and the tuners need to be tighten by twisting the screws. The input jack is loose so don't tighten it with your fingers or you'll just rip the wires out but make sure it's tight enough so the nut don't fall off or your jack will go inside the bass. Also the bridge looks poorly glued so be careful to not use medium or heavy strings.

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

This is a great starter bass. My wife's been begging me of a bass for ten years, and since I've used Dean instruments before, I didn't hesitate to grab this at a great price. I'm not disappointed - well made, sounds good, feels good, no rough edges. I'd recommend it for sure.

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I bought one of these a couple of years ago for jamming around the house and acousticly with friends. The sound was never great and the action was poor. But the worst thing is after about a year of very little use, I went in to play it one dayd the strings were flat against the neck. No amount of adjustment to the truss rod changed it. Finally took it to a luthier who told me the neck needed to be removed and reset, which would cost around 400 to 500.

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

The bass came ready to play. Needed a little tweeking on the truss bar to get rid of the slight buzzes, but otherwise no troubles and sounds great. Going to change the strings as they are kinda metallic sounding. Kristy in customer service helped me choose it and made sure I had it in time for my party deadline! Thanks Kristy!

For this price, you can't lose. It sounds better than a lot of more expensive acoustic bass guitars out there. Some of the negative reviews on here are ill advised. Perfect starter bass or for anyone if you ask me.

The acoustic bass was set up well. The action was not too high and there is no buzz when played. It has a good sound unplugged and sounds good when plugged in. It is a big instrument and I am adjusting to its size. So far. so good. Have not found any down side yet.

Comments about Dean EAB Acoustic-Electric Bass:

My son has this bass. For the money, it's unbeatable. It sounds and plays as well as instruments over twice the price.

The pickup is inexpensive so don't expect pro quality sound from it. It's fine for plugging into a little bass amp and playing with friends.

It sounds considerably better played acoustically (which is true of all acoustic bass guitars, but moreso for the Dean.)

The only issue was the bridge separated from the body, behind the bridge. I think it may be a design flaw as the bump on the fancy shape makes a narrower point which will get more stress. Therefore I recommend against medium or heavy strings (unfortunately).

We'll have a luthier glue it back down and hopefully it's not a design flaw but just a bad glue job, and won't fail again. Even including the repair cost, it's still a good value, if it doesn't fail again and need a complete new bridge.

If not for the bridge issue, I'd give it 5 stars based on value.
