Fender

A great-sounding acoustic bass that plays as easily as your solid-body electric bass does!

From deep within the cavernous and labyrinthine Research and Development Department down at Fender headquarters, they come up with this totally new take on the acoustic bass guitar—designed for the discerning bassist, yet friendly to guitarists, too. From its Jazz Bass guitar headstock, neck shape, strap button, and machine heads, it feels like home to the electric bassist, but it embodies all the deep and rich tones acoustic players look for. With a solid spruce top, traditional bridge, gold pickguard, and lusciously bound fingerboard with eye-catching block position inlays, this bass is destined to make groundbreaking music!

The Onboard Fishman Aero Active Preamp transfers the natural acoustic bass tone of the Kingman and features the Fishman Sonicore pickup; integrated electronic tuner with LED display; and On/Off switch, volume, bass, mid, treble, phase switch, and low battery indicator light. Operates on a standard 9-volt battery.

Great Fishman Electronics and Tuner

Quality:

arrived in great shape and required little work to get this playing great

Value:

Very good bass, fantastic tone for an acoustic and high quality electronics.

Overall:

If the price on this were a little lower, I would have given this a lot higher points.

With that said it is still a very good value, just not exceptional. The bass plays great and has a very tapered neck with great playability. IT has the lows you might hope for in an acoustic and very high quality output through the piezo.

I highly recommend this against the mid range competitors in the this price point. There are cheaper but few are in this category or have the durability when you slap on some strings.

The Fender Kingman Acoustic Bass has great acoustic sound and downright awesome plugged in!  Far better than my Dean EAB which is horrible plugged in.  Had it for two months, play it every day and love it!  The smaller body and jazz neck make it much easier to play also.

I can find not fault in the guitar.

I have been playing bass for over 40 years and I want to tell everyone that is interested in this bass, how much I enjoy it. It has the best sound from any bass I have every played. I compared it to the current basses I have and the Kingman is superior. It is not as loud acoustically as I would like, but I plug it into my     Fender Rumble and it has a tremendous amplified sound.

Several years ago, I got away from my large amps and became more compact.

I can take the Kingman and the Rumble on     any job and the sound is second to none.

The A string had a buzz in it from the factory, but apparently it was sturng incorrectly and that was fixed quickly by taking it to a guitar setup and the intonation is perfect up and down the neck.

Great price on a great instument.

Sound, Quality, and Playability For Your Money

No surprises here, you pretty much get what you pay for; a step above some ABG's on the market, a step below some others. Overall a very nice instrument, well worth the price, all in a very attractive package, especially with the pickguard removed. I mostly use mine in an acoustic duet, restrung with GHS black tapewounds. In this guise it produces a mellow, woody thump that nicey compliments accompanying acoustic instruments. Usually run direct through a powered mixer/sound system during live performances, but for acoustic jams I take along a little Ampeg BA110 (30 watts) which makes a great sounding compact package well suited for those situations. As with most any ABG, don't expect it to cut through several acoustic guitars unamplified, especially if you play with your fingers. Buget in a good portable amp and you should be happy. I really like mine.
