Lakland

Cutting-edge electronics and peerless craftsmanship.

Unbelievably precise, rich, and flexible tone comes from active Lakland pickups—a classic single-coil at the neck and MM humbucker with coil tapping at the bridge. Preamp with cut/boost bass, sweepable mid, treble; panning pickup blend; master volume that can be pulled for preamp bypass; and master trim give you complete tonal command. Flat-sawn maple neck, rosewood or maple fretboard, and ash body provide fat resonance and amazing looks. 35" scale length, 22 frets.

Lakland luthiers now do their fret work using Plek technology to assure optimum playability. Plek is a CAD/CAM machine with scanning capability. It was developed to perform high-speed, highly accurate fret dressing, nut and bridge slotting and shaping, and engraving work. When used by an experienced luthier, the Plek machine produces necks with fretwork and action that equal the very best handwork and does it consistently.

WORTH IT

Traded up from 55-01 to 55-02 - I just can't get over the versatility of sounds, (I use half rounds on it) the clarity and articulation and intonation on this instrument - can get it to sound deep and smooth and warm almost like an upright all the way down to the open B string - and the note is always CLEAR if you set you volumes right - a few flips of the knobs and you can cut through anything with a raw ripping edge and shakin the foundations with those lows. Intonation virtually perfect all the way up the neck, and after a few days of playing the neck feels like I've been playing it 20 years. If you don't want to break the back this bass gives you a GREAT bang for the buck. I got black body with maple fretboard and it's my pride and joy - a think of beauty.

I have owned alot of basses in my day but this is by far one on the best. The neck is easy in the hand, the tone is so vary it doesn't matter what your looking for this bass will get you there. I like them so much that I brought a fretted & frettless. These basses are going to be in my home for a long time.
