This is about as good as it get's in the lower price bracket for a good, playable bass guitar. After a good set up(must be done, no question about it, all guitars need this...no excuses and no bad reviews just because you didn't do it...), it sounds good enough for practicing and some recording. Better strings are also a major plus as the included ones were all but lifeless. I used some Fender Steels and all was fine.

Build quality was above what I was expecting, and decent basswood is used instead of the usual mystery wood found at this price point. The electronics are ok, not scratchy or too limited...but the pickups are on the quite side which does limit what you can do out of the box. Hook it up to a few good pedals, on the other hand, and it sounds just fine. I bought this for practice purposes, and it fits the bill to a "T".

If you're a beginning bass player, this is a great choice, just bring it to a certified tech and have a thorough set up done, with proper strings put on and possibly a better nut(Graphtech, cheap and perfect), and you'll have a nice guitar that will do you good for quite some time. If you're a pro...well there are obviously better out there----for a few hundred more that is. This is a good beater, a bass that you wont mind abusing much, and that is not a bad thing.

As for MF and their policy of lie's about the condition of their so called "Mint" repackaged guitars, well let me say that a good 1/4"+ chip, right by a strap button all the way down to the wood, is considered "Mint" to them...so buyer beware. I only saved a small amount of money over that of a new one, but I learned my lesson here--don't EVER trust MF on what a guitars condition is, just buy new and be a happy camper. No issues with Rouge here, they did good, and this bass is a steal at the low price point, so go for it, just buy a new one, k?

I bought this after reading good reviews and watching a video on how it played. I wanted a secondary bass that I could leave in Drop C tuning for harder rock and metal. My main bass is much different and is a jazzier and blues style, so I needed something different. I figured this one would make the cut since it had everything I was looking for in a bass at a great price.

This is a good instance of where you get what you payed for. Some products are inexpensive, and some are cheap. This, however, is cheap.

When it arrived, the first thing I noticed was it wasnt the right color. I ordered the dark blue that I had seen all over the internet. Upon opening the box, my bass was a very light, almost sky blue, which is definitely not what I ordered or what was advertised. But it wasnt a huge deal, so I put that aside. Then I noticed the condition it was in. There were a couple of dings and scratches in the finish, and it was covered in a good layer of dust and grime. Flipping to the back of the bass, there was a sticker that said "Assembled in 2008". I think that was where I shouldve turned away and sent it back, but I didnt. My mistake. I mustve gotten an old model or a "bottom of the pile" that had been shipped and returned a few times that they wanted to get rid of. I cleaned off the finish and whiped it down. I was feeling better about it now, so I plugged it up. I was aware from other reviews that the pickups are weak, and mine was definitely no exception. I had to turn my amps volume to max and the pickups all the way up to get it to the volume I wanted. After getting considerable fret buzz, I messed with the action for a while. I got it to where I liked, but still got alot of fret buzz. I inspected the fretboard only to find it was cheaply made. The board itself wasnt very flat. There were a few dips and bumps. In additon to that, the frets themselves were very cheap. None were uniform or even at all. Several were almost flush with the wood while others stuck out too far, some were round-edged while some were squared almost. It took a few hours of sanding and testing and tweaking to get it into playing condition. After that, I couldnt return it so I decided to ahead, I mean, for the price I payed, why not?

I stopped by my music store and bought a set a heavy guage DR-DDT strings, put them on, and tuned it down to Drop C. I messed with the amp setting for a while and I started to like it. Though weak and not very clear, the pickups do growl with a very gritty tone, perfect for the playing application I wanted. The highs and mids project with a solid low-end. I may end up swapping out the pickups for more power and clarity.

I regret not returning it for a better model, but for now, I reasonably pleased with how it plays after I've broken it in.
For the price, it has some pretty good features such as a P/J configuration and black hardware.

Comments about Rogue LX200B Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

This was my first base guitar (or guitar of any kind). I chose this one per the advice of a list of good starting bass guitars. It came in impeccable condition and looks great, but had a fret buzz issue with 2 strings from the get-go. Saddle adjustments did not remedy the situation and I had to bring it in to a music store to get fixed. The guitar tech there is apparently having a hard time remedying the issue and said that Rogue instruments tend to have this issue. For the price I guess I should've accepted that there was a chance of this happening, but if I could go back and do it again I think I would've done my homework on this brand a little more before committing to it.

Comments about Rogue LX200B Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

So, my Rogue LX200B Series III Electric Bass Guitar arrived a few days ago, and after about 15 minutes of set-up, she was good-to-go. I have several other Rogue products already, and they have always delivered superior quality. I had originally intended on replacing the stock strings with a set of EB Slinky, but discovered these guys actually have a nice, clean tone. I've recorded a couple of tracks with her, and cannot wait to hit the stage! Nice addition to my collection. This one's a keeper!

Great for beginner or intermediate player, sturdy backup for a pro.

Fun to play, lightweight, my neck and back don't hurt.

      Rock on.

You get what you pay for. For the money, if you can do a basic setup yourself, this is a good value. Once I made some adjustments it played and sounded nice. The ordering and shipping process was flawless as always. MF wrote the book on customer service.

I use it to practice, play anywhere. It is a good solid Guitar.
I have always been one to try new types and names of guitars. I have done this for thirty years now, and so far this is the best Bass for me that I could own.
I have had people to tell me, oh you have an off brand, I laugh and say if you want to call it that. After they hear it, and the different sounds that will come out of it, they never say anything else about my Guitar, except, man, that sounded great, or, are you sure that is the real name for it? It always brings a smile to me. You can't go wrong with this.
