Set up and sound were excellent right from the start...simply plugged it in and got to work. The action is great, and this became my favorite bass immediately. Rock, punk, jazz...it sounds great.

Comments about Spector Legend 4 Standard Electric Bass Guitar:

I am a guitar player of over 15 years that decided to take up bass. This is my first bass and I wanted to get a good one that would last.I did tons of research before purchasing this bass.

It arrived well set-up with good intonation and low action. I'm learning to slap and it seems well-suited for that.

Granted I don't know a lot about basses yet, but I compared this one, Fender Jazz, and Precision in store before deciding on this one. It just felt better in my hands.

The item description says that it's passive, but the back panel on the bass has a small sticker that says battery and it sounds active. So take what you will from that. You can get a wide range of tones though, so I'm not complaining.

Overall a great bass so far.

Comments about Spector Legend 4 Standard Electric Bass Guitar:

This bass was a great find, at a great price. Beautiful, solid, great tone.

The sound is more aggressive and brighter than I expected with the PJ pickup configuration. But not so much that you can't play all music types. I strung it with Fender Flatwounds to play blues, roots, R & B, and classic country, and can dial in a sound for all. The pickups are hot and clean. The controls are well placed, solid, with a perfect range of adjustment.

This is a gorgeous bass, the fit and finish are great. The neck and frets aren't finished as perfectly as some more expensive basses, but it's as good as anything in it's price range, and feels better in my hand than anything else comparable. Light, comfortable, plays easily. It's so much fun to play, it's become my go-to bass.

Negatives: When I first plugged the bass in, there was a significant hum from the single coil bridge pickup, louder than the typical single coil jazz bass hum. I almost sent it back because of this, but for some reason it subsided after a few days. Then a small gripe - I don't like that they put the battery into the main control cavity, it involves taking out a lot of screws to change the battery. The thought of trying to do it on a dark stage with the bass balanced on a speaker cab makes me nervous. Not that this will ever happen if some very basic planning is done.

I'm very happy with this purchase, and if something happened to the bass I would definitely buy the same bass as a replacement.

Comments about Spector Legend 4 Standard Electric Bass Guitar:

Although lower in price than their highest end Korean models, this bass sounds just as good if not better than most. My only CON was a rattle/buzz I discovered while playing that was coming from the tuners. Haven't remedied the problem yet but other than that, this bass has no other flaws.
