OVERVIEW

Sweet intermediate bass.

From the tip of the headstock to the bottom strap button, the Yamaha TRBX504 bass is a great value, but more than that, it's a great instrument. Equipped with all of the features a committed student needs in order to advance on his or her instrument, the TRBX504 sounds and plays great, and offers a variety of sounds that are appropriate to a variety of playing styles.

Body
TRBX features a sculpted solid mahogany body, with a mass-optimized 3D design for the optimum balance between tone and comfort coupled with perfect weight distribution.

Neck
TRBX's neck design combines a fast, ultra-comfortable profile with 5-pc maple/mahogany laminated construction for outstanding stability and excellent tone.

Pickups
YGD designed H5 pickups are defined by a clean, open tone that's perfectly matched with the flexibility of the active/passive preamp design. Their quad-polepiece design and alnico magnets give them the power to drive the active circuit and the sensitivity and subtlety to capture every nuance in passive mode.

Electronics
TRBX500 models feature an audiophile-grade active/passive circuit for fine tonal control and extreme flexibility. The advanced design offers a level-matched output whether in passive or active mode and tone-switching circuitry that seamlessly moves from treble control to master passive tone. High-quality gold plated parts are used for key signal chain contacts, providing increased conductivity and reliability and a battery alert LED installed on the back panel gives instant indication of low power to eliminate sudden power loss during performance.

Neck Joint
TRBX uses a precision fitted bolt-on neck joint for maximum adjustability and clear, punchy tone. Developed through hundreds of hours of play-testing, the refined neck joint shape perfectly balances strength, vibration transfer and upper-fret access.

Bridge
A high-mass die-cast bridge efficiently transfers string vibrations to the body for full, rich tone combined with excellent adjustability and road-tested durability. 19mm string spacing on the 4-string model offers outstanding playability for technical slap or finger styles.

Headstock
Straight string pull from nut to machine head eliminates lateral tension, providing superior tuning stability and reducing overtones.

Nut
38mm (4-string) nut widths give fast, comfortable playability for any style.

Output Jack
Yamaha's metal plate-mounted standard jack socket offers superior durability and easy maintenance.

FEATURES
  • Active/passive electronics
  • Fine EQ control
  • Fitted bolt-on neck
  • High-mass die-cast bridge
  • Stable tuning

Comments about Yamaha TRBX504 4-String Premium Electric Bass:

This exceptional bass is my first Yamaha and IMO a coup for them. They got everything right, comfort, tone, looks, workmanship. Just plain fun to play, no neck dive, and more than ample tone options. Pick ups are superb and look more like designer ones. would easily put this up against any other 4 string in this price range, including Ibanez SR500. Volume/pan/tone controls are intuitive and very functional. The only option I would have preferred is that the 504 came in green mist like the 304 but the black looks great too so more or less a non-issue. I love it and haven't played any of my others for weeks. Kudos to the R and D guys at Yamaha, they nailed it.

Comments about Yamaha TRBX504 4-String Premium Electric Bass:

I have been playing bass for over 45 years. For the money, this is one great bass. Very nice craftsmanship, great tone, nice neck that plays like butter. My biggest complaint would be the lack of a gig bag or case. Yamaha makes great products and this is another example.

Comments about Yamaha TRBX504 4-String Premium Electric Bass:

Been handling basses for over 50 years. Yamaha has it right with this one. It would take a lot more money to get a bass that played better and sounded better than this. Very impressed and still exploring the many sounds that this Yamaha can produce. Beyond all that stuff, it's fun to play!

Comments about Yamaha TRBX504 4-String Premium Electric Bass:

I already have a Yamaha RBX170 that I really enjoy playing. Now, I was looking for a bass with double humbuckers. After reading many reviews, comparing products, value received, and past experience, I decided on the Yamaha TRBX504. The Yamaha neck on both instruments is comfortable and one of the smoothest I have encountered. The fact that this bass is both passive and active with the flick of a switch is a definite bonus. In addition, I took a chance on this purchase as it was a "restock". I would certainly buy a Yamaha restock again as both the price and condition was excellent. The only thing it needed out of the box was a bit of truss rod adjustment. I also changed the steel strings to nickel coated steel strings to obtain the sound I wanted and to increase the life of the frets.

Comments about Yamaha TRBX504 4-String Premium Electric Bass:

I am impressed by this bass guitar. I never liked Yamaha bass guitars, I always found them to heavy and somehow low in design. Though they always tried to make some things new (some of their guitars are really awesome).
Today I was looking for a new Bass guitar just to get some new sound etc. and I found this little nice grey colored TRBX504 hanging there, asking for my attention. I gave it a try and the first thing that got me was the very different shape of the neck. it is flat, from the first to the last fret. If you are a beginner, give it a try! I think it is easy to play, very easy!
the sound passive - as I am the absolutely passive guy - has a very wide range and the active electronic gives it a little kick more. but here there is no being afraid of the battery low, because the passive sound is good (as long as you do not use a cable more than 20 m...)
Well the active electronic has a little sound when you push the high frequency to much. but this is absolutely not necessary.
It has a wide range of sound active and passive, and keeps his own character.
Well, if you are looking for some bass guitar that can be your companion for a long time, as an old rabbit or a newcomer, I think this bass is a very good option.
Forget about that bass guitars have to be heavy and thick and clumsy.
