Comments about Alfred's Self-Teaching Adult Piano Course:

I had never tgouched the piano before and in just moments I was playing my first song, "Ode to Joy" and it sounded good. The book gives a lot of direction and shows you what you need to know without a teacher to learn. It is a little skimpy on theory and I would buy a basic theory book before moving too far along. The CD isn't very helpful as they use instruments other than piano for your part and it is often overpowered by the other backing instruments. No worries though as there are whole playlists of every song and how it should sound on YouTube. If I had it to do over again I would buy the version with DVD.

Comments about Alfred's Self-Teaching Adult Piano Course:

Bought to use along with another course. The book is very good and explains everything you need to know. The CD however, is nearly worthless. It wasn't recorded on the piano and often the piano part is drowned out beyond hearing it in the background music. It is better to search on YouTube for" Alfred's Adult all in One" and get the music off one of the playlists there. I do like the fact it is based on Alfred's "All in One" book one as you can get plenty of help and support in the endless thread of that title over on http://www.pianoworld.com/forum in the Adult Beginners Forum.
