Comments about Hal Leonard Best Songs Ever 6Th Edition for Big Note Piano:
When I set aside the "Easy Piano" version of the Charlie Brown Christmas special piano music arrangements that I'd tried to work through over the course of years of holiday seasons and purchased the "BIG NOTE" version I went from someone who felt an underlying sense of dread when I turned to a new song to someone who could play through the entire "BIG NOTE" book (with plenty of mistakes, no doubt) the first time I opened the book. After that I concluded that I needed to spend more time with "BIG NOTE" books that appeal to those with about a year's worth of piano training or those, like me, who have been away from the instrument too long over the course of decades. The music in this book is comprised of many popular tunes, from Billy Joel's "Piano Man", which I loved as a child, to Rogers & Hammerstein excerpts from "The Sound of Music". It also contains "Lady is a Tramp", which I happen ot like, and some Beetle's tunes. Good Stuff. Not too hard to play through the firs time, and it certainly is enabling me to work on my note recognition/music reading capabilities on both ends of my Yamaha electronic keyboard's fingerboard. The only drawback is that the book arrived with a cover that had been oddly bent, and I didn't want to go to the trouble of sending it back and waiting for a new one to arrive. Gasoline to drop the book off at a UPS shipment center isn't free, and my time is valuable to me. I laid the book down on a flat surface and covered it with a heavy book. I can only hope that it recovers. I'd recommend one of those giant clips with the long, flat contact surfaces to hold this book open, and need to pick one up to use it. This is a thick book that has a tendency to be inclined to close itself while you are trying to play the music.
