This is what MUSIC is about!

Comments about Hal Leonard Blues Rock Guitar Soloing (DVD):

I bought this recently on-line. To my knowledge, this is the only product out there that actually teaches you how to solo. The examples of diferent players in different styles is ment to show you how all these various players are really playing Blues Rock- It's not a Lick lesson. It is way deeper! Matt shows yoy how to get a sound and how to build a solo- not copy someone else. I guess some of there reviewers don't get the gest of if. I think if you are really into being a good musician, you will find invaluable information here. If you just want to copy others you will find this too deep and probably miss the point.

Very creative and musical

Comments about Hal Leonard Blues Rock Guitar Soloing (DVD):

This is the only instructional product I have ever seen that realy gets into how to build a solo that goes somewhere! The section on how to get different tones and how the amp and guitar work together is very informative. I have played for 30 years and now use these ideas with my students.

Not too pleased

Comments about Hal Leonard Blues Rock Guitar Soloing (DVD):

This is the worst instructional DVD I have ever seen. Mat Gurman is a technically skilled and knowledgeable guitarist; however, his teaching skills are lacking. He plays one lengthy solo after another, then gives a short explanation and moves onto the next. He never slows or breaks down a single riff. I learned nothing new by watching this.

Not for Everyone

By john57classic

Comments about Hal Leonard Blues Rock Guitar Soloing (DVD):

Matt is clearly talented and delves into lots of different blues/rock solo ideas/styles. but if you are not already somewhat knowledgable in this area or are used to using tab to learn don't start here. The lesson moves very quickly and jumps around a bit. The tab is very limited and in my opinion doesn't even cover some of the most importants ideas that are trying to be conveyed. If you have a good ear and learn rapidly from watching someone play you will get a fair amount of education, if not you will be doing a lot of pausing and fumbling around.

Good dvd

Comments about Hal Leonard Blues Rock Guitar Soloing (DVD):

The only problem I had with the dvd was that it goes at a quick pace. There were no diagrams "fretboard" etc. It was pretty much watching a guy play guitar. If you are begining to learn soloing it's hard to follow. You will find yourself rewinding a lot. The dvd is very informational and covers various styles for intermediate and advanced guitarists.
