Comments about Hal Leonard Metallica - Ride the Lightning Bass Tab Book:
I mostly bought this to complete my collection... couldn't find a copy elsewhere. First, it's the stapled together book (people like that, I personally think it feels super cheap)... Second, grossly oversimplified or inaccurate. For example, For Whom the Bell Tolls is almost nothing there: I found a youtube video with tabs that has way more notes and is more satisfying to play. I'm a guitar player that does bass as a secondary activity (I like it a lot, don't gig on bass) and for me this book is basically a guide... barely adequate.
I had a similar experience with a Sabbath guitar book (stapled, most inaccurate, but had parts/solos that were not elsewhere)... Side note: I have the guitar/bass tabs for first 5 metallica albums now... none of the books are perfect, yet most are either VERY close or close enough, not worth complaining. HOWEVER, this book is the least impressive out of all of them. Both in construction and content. These modern stapled together album books all seem to have been done on amateur night. AGAIN, I couldn't find this book elsewhere... wish I could have found it used, at least... paying full price for a glorified pamphlet is rough...
