This is THE beginners book. It is easy enough to keep the interest of elementary drummers, and has the essentials necessary to provide a good foundation for all drummers. Although it's been 40 years since I first purchased a copy, I keep going back to it with my beginners because it fills the bill for under six bucks!
One must look past the "traditional grip" photos, since this was written during the "tilted snare-leg rest" era of drumming (post Civil War, LOL!) but that is a little bit of percussion history that you can share with a new drummer!

I have owned this book for over 40 years and have used it on my students. It is the best reader in the business for old school muscle building. With the right metronome you can become a monster.
