Great book, very well done.
You can be as critical about this book as you want to, all I can say is it's wonderful. I live in a very small town in the middle of Iowa, no guitar instructors anywhere....very frustrating. About 8 years ago I bought this book.... I was on the brink of giving up guitar all together and thought I would give it one last try through the music of the Beatles. Now I play in two bands, one playing acoustic guitar and the other strictly bass. I taught myself, with help of this book, every chord and every bass line I could handle and now I apply those concepts in every song I play. I also teach guitar to teenage kids!! Who would have known. The chord and bass line tabs were the most help to me. It's worth every penny. I might have to buy another one because this one is about fried.

I ordered this book less than a week ago and it came today and as I looked at it I was disappointed to find that the print was very small and difficult to read. I was also disappointed to find that this book is not for the novice but for an acomplished musician. I play the bass guitar and am a Beatle fan and I believe that Paul McCartney himself would have a difficult time with this material. I think that their should be some kind of notice posted that would inform the perspective buyer what to expect if they are interested in this book.

      The Ultimate Beatles Book

      By Aaron-W5NyP

      from Indiana

Comments about Hal Leonard The Beatles Complete Scores Book:

This book is great. It has every song except 3- Free as a Bird, Real Love, and My Bonnie. There's a few errors in the book, but nothing major. It has every single part too like piccolo trumpet, strings, sitar, tambora etc... If you're a Beatlemanic you need to buy it.

      The closest thing to completion

      By R.J.-N1KuJ

      from Cotati, CA

Comments about Hal Leonard The Beatles Complete Scores Book:

Many of the reviewers have commented on the print size and structure of this book, and for the most part they are all correct. This is a technical score written in condensed jazz style (handwritten-ish). Tab is only available for guitar and bass parts, everything else is written in standard notation. String parts are often lumped together on the same staff as are horn parts etc. All of which are written in concert pitch, not the key of the instrument itself (i.e. Bb trumpet is written in C).And while the cover totes it is EVERY song, it isn't. Nothing from the Anthology Series ("Real Love" and "Free As A Bird" in particular) or the BBC Radio Discs are included (there were plenty of songs on those CDs that didn't appear in other forms). What it does have is every song released on the standard Beatles CD collection from "Please Please Me" to "Let It Be" and the Past Masters discs too. This isn't for carrying around, it's a big heavy slipcase hardcover. It's pretty much for reference only, or as a display for the non-musical. But for what it is, it's the best option you have.

      Great Reference

      By Rossrcm

      from Philadelphia

Comments about Hal Leonard The Beatles Complete Scores Book:

The Beatles Complete Scores is a very good, complete reference for figuring out Beatles songs. Probably the best option available. You have to remember that this is not for beginners. If you are just picking up a guitar and trying to play Beatles tunes, there are much easier alternatives. But if you are trying to learn all of the details i.e. Guitar, Bass, Piano, Violins, Cellos, Drums etc. This pretty much does it. It does a very good job of laying out all of the parts. (Parts are only labeled on the first page, so you do have to be prepared to go back to the first page to remind yourself of the staffs that pertain to a particular part...only real con, but I understand why.)The print is small...BUT...it has to be in order to fit in all of the parts, otherwise every song would be about 30 pages long. Right now, each song is several pages. For the price, this is well worth it. It is a nice hardback book, in a slip case. Pages are bound nicely so the pages stay open. You can't expect to put this on a music stand and play, as there is a lot of page turning to do, and the book is thick. However, If you are trying to completely learn Beatles songs. This will do a good job for you.

      It is what it says

Comments about Hal Leonard The Beatles Complete Scores Book:

It says that it is The Beatles Complete Scores and it is. No other Beatle music book that I have seen actually has ALL of the songs... nor, especially, ALL of the instruments. My husband got this book for me a couple of years ago, and it is just awesome. Yes, the print is small... I actually considered buying two so that I could tear the pages out of one and copy them enlarging the print. But I just transpose the music I want onto my own paper... I have also found a few mistakes this way... simple "typos" that common sense catches, nothing serious. Besides the print HAS to be small for the volume of the book (it is about two inches thick as it is). I love it!

      Nice Resource

      By TheGrimace

      from Memphis

Comments about Hal Leonard The Beatles Complete Scores Book:

I like this book. I have been a big Beatles fan and I enjoy the ability to look anything up I want to know. I did notice that some of the tabs were incorrect. The written tab would not correspond to the written note above it. However, it is mostly accurate, and the few times the tab is incorrect, it is close, and your ear will tell you immediately. Just another reason to learn how to read music, so that's good. I recommend this book.

      The Best Beatles Book Ever

      By BeatlesFan47

      from Peoria, IL

Comments about Hal Leonard The Beatles Complete Scores Book:

I've been a Beatles fan since 1964, but I'm not really a musician. I'm more of an music enthusiast. But, I do have a guitar, a digital piano, a bass, and a small mixer. In the past, I've used fake books to approximate the Beatles sounds, never really very well. I don't read music well (it's always a struggle), but if you give me enough time, I'll figure it out. All that said, I like this book better than any I've ever used. I love the guitar and bass tabs. If you want to know the precise note in the precise measure that George played in 1963 for any particular song, this is the book for you. I sat down last fall, and started recording, one instrument on a track, one track at a time. By the new year I had about 20 songs completely recorded. I was shocked (given my less than professional abilities) how dead on the covers were that I produced. I'm talking about songs like 'Please Please Me', 'Twist and Shout', 'Money', 'Anna', 'Please Mr. Postman', 'You Can't Do That', 'I Call Your Name', 'Nowhere Man', etc. They were all spot on, and I am very knowledgeable of these songs. If you want to nail these songs, and sound really great (not to mention, have a ball), get this book. You won't be sorry.
