I wanted to try something different when learning some songs, so I purchased this to learn the three songs it comes with: Crazy Horse, Overlord, and Parade of the Dead. These are all songs off of Black Label Society's latest album, "Order of the Black."
It comes with 6 DVDs - 3 DVDs are the Guitar Apprentice Method of learning, which shows you the fretboard and notes to play very similar to the video game Guitar Hero. It has many different settings to ease you into the songs, all the way from playing a root note on the major parts of the song all the way to the whole song at full tempo and anywhere in between tempo-wise. Very easy to follow and fun at the same time.
The other 3 DVDs are a private lesson with Zakk Wylde himself. He breaks down the three songs almost note by note and explains exactly what he does during each phrase. Example: Parade of Dead - He starts off tuning of course, then the intro riff he explains "It is based off an F# Minor Pentatonic. It's an octave riff, a Zeppelin-y type of thing."
Between the "video game" style of learning the songs and the private hand-holding lesson given by Zakk Wylde this is a purchase I would have easily paid double the price for. I just wish it had more songs!
If you want incredible insight into the Black Label Songs and have fun learning how to play these three tunes, this is well worth the entry fee!
