This is a really good video! If you're a beginner this is perfect. Tommy has no ego, speaks well, and is the type guy you want to hang out with. He shows you how to put your new drums together from a pile of parts...when you buy a drum set the instructions are poor it they are there at all. The 2ns part is actual well taught lessons. It would be a good idea to pick up Tommy's Groove DVD as well because this video is simple how to learn to drum and not heavy on new grooves. You won't be sorry if you buy these DVD's.

Tommy Igoe. Is sooo cool. I juss stated getting back into the drums,after 35 years of not having nothing but my legs to tap on. BUT! never lost my love for all things related to the musical industry. Finally purchased me a kit. After a long time out of the know. I also purchaed this dvd. IT'S AWESOME! I thank Mr.Igoe for being the way he is. This dvd is tuner me up and teaching me things that i always want to know. Mr.Igoe not only is a great muscian. You can feel his love for music. A awesome learning tool. I'm planning a trip to see him perform live.;

As a beginning drummer, I had several other videos, but this one puts the others to shame! GREAT teacher, very easy to understand. Video is well-shot, well-produced, and uses students for some demos to show you that "if these kids can do it, you can too!" Half is set-up, half is beginning grooves. I wish more was devoted to the grooves, but guess now I'll have to buy Tommy's "Groove Essentials" too!

I have to agree with the other guys here... this is a great video, and the instructor is great; he's easy to listen to, makes you feel comfortabe, and full of good tips that others overlook or neglect. I have a couple other DVDs, but this is head and shoulders above the others. I highly recommend.

Tommy Igoe is with out a doubt the best instructional drummer out there. Drummers who have years of experience will learn something from this Dvd. I was upset and frustrated when I got my drums and wasn't learning anything and on the verge of getting rid of them, then I got this video and I can't stop playing. This guy rocks and is garunteed to help anyone who has alot or no experience play. Get this. You won't regret it.

If you are just starting out, THIS is a MUST have DVD! Tommy is young and makes learning FUN!, not like some old stuffed shirt music teacher. It's like the guy-next-door, who plays in a band, and is more than happy to help you, and give good advice, without all the tech lingo. I hope Mr. Igoe makes more DVD's.

I just got new drumset and I purchased another "how to play drums" dvd and it was a POS, this video gives you a simple easy breakdown on assembly, grip, technique and then teaches you basic drum grooves that are a must have for a good foundation for beginning drummers. This dvd, like I said is a must have for beginning drummers!!!

Tommy Igoe is fast becoming legend amongst educators and players for his, no nonsense and likeable approach. He doesn't show off (thank god!) and just talks basic, good drumming habits. I have recommended this video to over 50 new drummers and all have raved about it! If you are brand new to drumming, this is the ONLY DVD to get. Also, check out his "Groove Essentials" videos and books, for more advanced playing.

Get this before you buy a set. Starts with everything you need to know about an acoustic set and how to set it up. Good instructor. Goes on to cover basic grooves and exercises.
