Helping you get your funk together for over 25 years.

Theodore Presser's best-selling Slap It! has been the leader in the funk arena for over 25 years and that has long been highly recommended among bassists. Oppenheim's step-by-step instruction book includes over 150 musical examples in slap, laid out in standard notation and tablature. String popping, dead notes, hammer-ons, and lift-offs--Slap It! covers the basics and continues right up to highly advanced slap skills. The included audio CD boasts 98 examples and is now ready to lead for the next 25 years.

Here's what the pros have been saying about Slap It! over 25 years:

"This book is extremely comprehensive. It's an absolute must-have for anyone interested in learning slap bass or improving their technique."
--Rickey Minor (Producer/Bassist)

"Slap It! Will turn your head! The most complete book yet on the art of slap bass playing. Definitely the bible of twang!"
--Clyde Bullard (Mystic Merlin, Capitol Records)

"Excellent! Finally, an easy-to-understand, comprehensive study on the fine art of slap technique. This is a book that NO electric bassist should miss".
--Tim Landers

"I've found this book to be a must for any bass player…I was able to improve my recording technique of the "funk" styles. The text of this book is very precise in pinpointing various techniques of this style, not to mention the creativity of the bass lines that can give you endless ideas for your own style".
--Ken Smith (N.Y. studio musician; manufacturer of the Smith Electric Bass)

Better than Slap Bass Essentials

By h0GmQ9tgy

Comments about Theodore Presser Slap It! Funk Studies for the Electric Bass (Book/CD):

I ordered this book and also Slap Bass Essentials by Hal Leonard. This book was much more useful to me. It includes fingerings--the other book did not. It also included a host of interesting exercises that sound like real songs--not just exercises.

Comments about Theodore Presser Slap It! Funk Studies for the Electric Bass (Book/CD):

I've found this book to be a must for any bass player . . . I was able to improve my recording technique of the "funk" styles. The text of this book is very precise in pinpointing various techniques of this style, not to mention the creativity of the bass lines that can give you endless ideas for your own style.
