I purchased the Bach Mega Tone for me to try and for my students to use and it has its goods and its bads. The good is that it gives the tuba a much deeper fuller sound than a traditional sized mouthpiece, but the downside is that it requires alot more air to get the good sound. If there is not enough air put through the mouthpiece it makes the tuba sound very airy.

This mouthpiece is awesome. As soon as I started using this mouthpiece my sound volume and tone quality both greatly jumped. I love it, I would recemmend it to anyone.

when I recently lost my conn-helleberg 7b mouthpiece, I wanted to to buy another right away. but when I was looking in a magazine on how to order one, I noticed this mouthpiece and wondered how this "new shape" would feel and sound. in the end, my curiosity got the best of me and I ordered a size 7 mega tone. i was not disappointed! this mouthpiece took every good quality I had with my helleberg and enhanced it.it did take a while to get used to, but that's common every time you change mouthpiece brands. (or sizes) Now that I am used to it, I can now play in the upper register, AND the pedal tone register with ease!! this mouthpiece is amazing, I'm ordering an 18, too!! remember: a 7 is the largest size, and the 24AW is the smallest, get one that's closer to what your used to....(wish I had known that!!) it is a great mouthpiece, and very good from intermediate to advanced players
