I bought this trombone as a home use instrument so that our grandson did not have to carry a trombone+case back and forth from school while in an arm cast from a sports injury.

My husband - a very experienced trombone player - was impressed with the quality of this instrument and its tone for student use. The case looks to be a good low cost case.

This trombone's light weight was a ++ for our injured musician but we felt it's light weight may mean it could be easily damaged in an elementary or middle school classroom.

My grandson found that the trombone was so light weight that he could easily use his injured arm to support it without pain afterwards - so he took THIS trombone to school for his band practices and brought the heavier one home to use for home practice where he can control the length of time he must play. A SUCCESS ALL AROUND!

When I got this trombone, the tone was very clear, and I was amazed at how easy it was to play it. After about a month, though, it started leaking, and it needed oiling every single time I played it. After three months, the slide didn't work at all. I brought it to the repair shop, and the repairman said it was due to a very low quality metal, and it was irreparable. If I were you, I would invest in a higher quality trombone.

Comments about Etude ETB-100 Series Student Trombone:

I've played trombone for 7 years and then put down the instrument for 12 years. I bought this trombone so I can start playing again. The reason for buying was price (was on sale for 300 off). The trombone sounds good and plays well for an at home or school band.

I used to play a King 3B with F-attachment. Obviously, this does not come close to it, but when you consider price and purpose, I'm very satisfied with this instrument and would recommend it to others, especially parents with children in school bands since this is cheaper than a 1 year rental.

Comments about Etude ETB-100 Series Student Trombone:

The first trombone came damaged (dented) and I returned it. The second one has a problem with the slide lock. I give up. It will be expensive to return it as there is a significant restock fee and I will have to pay for shipping but the cheep price tag on this horn reflects what you will receive. I do not recommend this trombone.

This horn was purchased to replace an ancient student model horn for a 12 year old. The range was hampered by the included mouthpiece, but was much better with a Bach (can't remember the model). This horn is just what we needed for a student model working up to dad's Yamaha trigger.

I purchased this trombone for my son. He is in the school band and needed an instrument. I didn't want to rent one and this was a very reasonable solution. He seems to like it very much. He is still learning and I'm not sure how long he will stick with the trombone so price was an important consideration. I would also recommend purchasing an extended warranty. As I said this is for a student in a school band so you never know what might happen!

I have no words or any other way to express the feeling that I had when I donated this trombone to the students of Woodruff Academy, a small Christian school my children attend. Their band consist of no more than twelve members that have to share the instruments that were donated previously. To see their reaction when the case was opened...well, again no words, just smiles, laughter, and a debate over who was going to play it. THANK YOU so much for making that instrument affordable. Can not wait for their first performance.

We bought this trombone online to replace a rental. When we received it, my son tested it out and noticed that the metal is thinner than his rented trombone. Even though I purchased the extra warranty, I was concerned about dents. My son also noticed how basic the case is. There isn't enough compartments for his little tube of cleaner, little brush, tuning slide grease etc. We decided to return the trombone but I discovered that we're totally responsible for the shipping charges +$6.99 to ship, +$10 cleaning, and the kicker +$37.35 USPS to ship back. I asked for a return shipping label from Musician's Friends and said I would gladly pay for it, however they do not provide return shipping services. I'm not happy about the return costs on a trombone. Please be aware of the costs if you decide to return anything to Musician's Friends.

Comments about Etude ETB-100 Series Student Trombone:

I am a self-taught guitarist, nothing serious. I had developed an appreciation for Swing music and felt the urge to learn to play the trombone, like Tommy Dorsey & Glenn Miller, and so I decided to purchase this student model. After some reading and tubeyou, I was able to make sounds on the trombone and I was surprised how cool it sounded (coming from me!). I am now very encouraged to pursue learning the trombone proper. This is a good student instrument to start on if you are not sure you may want to pursue the art. It is not an outstanding instrument as far as build/craftsmanship is concerned, but it does look nice and it functions well enough for me. 4 Stars.

Decent Trombone for the money. No problems so far - have not had it long.

The order was placed rather easily and the trombone, was received within 3 full business days of being ordered. It was a used instrument and the only fault is that the bell is not perfectly shaped. The surprise was it came in a hard case. I am well pleased with this instrument.
