Comments about Schilke Standard Series Cornet Mouthpiece Group I in Silver:
I played the 14a4a on my trumpet for 30 years. I've recently switched to cornet (we'll see how it goes, but so far I'm loving it). I like my new sound with the cornet and deep cup British-style mouthpiece, but sometimes I need that mmph the 14a4a gives me. It turns the cornet into a trumpet, sort of, and allows me to project and cut through compared to my deep cornet mouthpiece. Though the 14a4a can be a little edgy and thin, I know I can always count on it to make the sizzle happen or just get me through a tough gig. It's an A+ mouthpiece when used what it is designed for. Btw, I also use a Bach 3C & 5C for the cornet, which is what I will likely use in an ensemble within concert and orchestral settings in order to blend better within the trumpet section.
