The Academy Series instruments feature a patent pending Integrated Resonator Rail System that provides not only a quality bar suspension and box resonator format, but also the rigid Aluminum Beam structure that makes these instruments the most durable in this class on the market. Academy series keyboards can be used either on a table-top, or with the double leg X-style stand included with each instrument. Happy With Purchase

By Ed Zegler

from Michigan

Comments about Adams Academy Series Light Rosewood Xylophone:

I've recently purchased this product to try to help me with getting back into mallet percussion after about a decade away. I looked at several options for a entry level instrument including the Academy Series Marimba, but this xylophone fit my needs right now. The product arrived in a plain cardboard box with the keys already installed and very little padding. Sometime during transit, the instrument was jostled enough to move several of the keys off the instrument putting slight frays in the cord and other keys pressed down hard enough into their slots to bend portions of these spots. There were no instuctions included and the supplied stand was hard at first to open. After the realization the the thumb screw on the stand is not a screw at all but a push button the stand popped right open. The bent portions of the box resonator were easy enough to bend back into their correct place/shape, however this required removing the keys and the force needed to bend back the frame caused some of the paint inside the box resonator to chip off. After fixing the problems from shipping and setting up the stand I was finally able to play the instrument. The sound is pretty good and the stand as a handful of height positions. A pair of Adams mallets are included as well as a drop cover. Adams reputation coupled with the features and price were what convinced me to by this and so far I'm happy with my purchase. If the product was packaged better I'd have had no complaints.

Comments about Adams Academy Series Light Rosewood Xylophone:

great product, great accessories. if you're a cheap xylophone, but are scared to buy something used because you fear it might break down, this is definitely what you want
well, it's a xylophone so it's not gonna have many features but it comes with more than what you need to get started. it comes with a great X-stand, hard mallets the xylophone and a cover. I gave it a 4 because it had a little more than you needed but not everything you could really want
the xylophone is great quality. sounds great and looks beautiful. the stand holds up quite nicely and doesn't look to bad either. it didn't get a 5 though because the mallets are a little hard for my taste
this xylophone sounds beautiful and it's the cheapest new xylophone I could find. amazing price for an amazing instrument

Comments about Adams Academy Series Light Rosewood Xylophone:

I bought this xylophone for my high school student who needed to practice at home. She plays the marimba at her school, and she said that the Academy xylophone sounds almost as good as her marimba does at her school, (which is a very high quality marimba!) She is very happy with it!

Comments about Adams Academy Series Light Rosewood Xylophone:

I'm currently playing in several concert bands, which range from small to large. Even though I have a degree in Percussion, it's been 40 years since I did any keyboard work, so I was looking for something to practice on, as well as possibly use in the smaller bands.(the larger band already has a full compliment of mallet keyboards) This xylophone fits the bill. I looked at several used units, but, for the money this was definitely a solid investment.
It has a good sound in the lower and middle registers, but the top octave is somewhat thin. When I first set it up, and began to play, I noticed that the instrument was slightly out of tune. Sharp, about a quarter tone, but I understand that it's a wood instrument, so I remained patient. It has been about 2 weeks and it's has adjusted to it's new environment, now sitting around A-442, which is considered normal. At first, the tone of all of the keys were not very responsive, kind of flat. Again just an adjustment. As I play the keys, they seem to seat into their slots, and their resonance is improving. The highest octave is still muted, but it's not getting much playing time yet, so I'm confident. Using a harder mallet is needed up there, for now. I believe it's sound would comfortably cut through most concert bands. The construction is very solid and, since Adams has utilized a resonator box, rather that tubes, it will be much easier to transport. The dust cover is a nice extra, and the X-stand is solid and fits well with the instrument. It fits my needs now and can be used for performances, in the future. A solid investment!

Comments about Adams Academy Series Light Rosewood Xylophone:

A finger injury/surgery had limited my piano
reach for many years. Percussion with "sticks" began to seem a good adaptation and the xylophone sound was always intriguing. Finally the combination of curiosity and an affordable (for me) quality instrument won me over.
