233 drum and rhythm samples and ready for MIDI!

The SR-16 drum machine has been used by plethora of songwriters, live performers, and remix engineers, making it one of the most popular drum machine on the market. The reason is simple: it features a great selection of 233 realistic, natural drum sounds, offered both in dry form and sampled with Alesis' incomparable digital reverbs. Alesis' exclusive Dynamic Articulation feature enables a drum sound to change its tonal content as it's played harder for truly realistic performances. The SR-16 also features 50 preset patterns that were actually played in by top studio drummers, not just programmed and quantized.

With the SR-16, you'll find enough built-in rhythmic variations (with A, B, and two Fill sections) for composing complete arrangements, and you can create and save your own customized patterns and songs. Plus, the SR-16 also provides complete MIDI implementation, a footswitch input, flexible programming, and editing features and velocity-sensitive pad buttons. Plus, it's so easy to use that you'll be up-and-running and composing new music in minutes. Whether you need a songwriting partner or an accompanyist for live performance, you can find it in the SR-16.

a reliable drummer minus the attitude

Features:

Easy to use .  Just plain works.

Quality:

Durable.  Like anything else, will last a long time if you don't abuse it.

Value:

Good bang for the buck.

Overall:

This is our second  SR-16 Drum machine.   The first one is probably 10 yrs old , used a lot on gigs, rehearsals & recordings & still works great.   The first one now stays in the studio and  the second one is  always packed in the gig bag  just in case the human drummer can't make the gig , or just doesn't show up.  The SR-16 Drum Machine is a reliable drummer minus the attitude.

Less than worthless

Features:

When you consider all of the decent drum software that's available, it's hard to believe they can still sell these things.

Quality:

If you mean by quality, did it explode - then okay, its quality was fine.  If you mean is it a useful tool to make music, then terrible is the correct word.

Value:

Mine still looked completely new and I valued it so much I threw it in the garbage.  I couldn't even bring myself to unload it on eBay - I would have felt bad sticking anyone with it.

Overall:

I think all of these types of drum machines are over-priced junk.  Download a demo of some good drum software and see what you've been missing.

Inspires practice and great for timing

Features:

This is a great little box. The main thing is NOT to get overwhelmed by all the buttons. Look on the bottom of the machine for a quick start. Don't try to master everything at once. Decide on a Preset you like and stick with it through whatever songs you play that it fits until you get sick of hearing the same ole same ole. Then try something else. Go to Alesis support and ask for the FREE DVD (not advertised). Take your time and have fun. This machine has much to offer! If you order it, get 2 universal footswitches, you'll need them. Enjoy!

Quality:

Nice size and feel.

Value:

Great device for the price.

Overall:

Unless you're into all the new electronic sounds, this machine is perfect and sounds like a real set of drums.

Perfect for me!

Features:

This is something I've always wanted. I really checkerd many machines out and a lot of opinions about this one was old sounding drum beats, but hey, I grew up with these beats. The newer machines were much more expensive and I'm not into the synthesized sounds. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT saying this machine is limited. If you get into the manual and take your time going step by step, you will find tons of adjustments and tweaks that will definitely keep your creativeness happy. It's simple to operate and you can get started with the presets right out of the box. Just remember to have FUN! Also order 2 universal foot pedals with it and your all set!

Quality:

Does everything I want.

Value:

Great price!!!

Overall:

Best drummer I every played with.
