        Comments about DW Performance Series Snare:

        First things first: There are contradicting photos of DW Performance series snare drums on the web. The one I received has the single turret "bow-tie" lugs. I much prefer this look to the double circle "PDP" style. Second point is that this IS made in USA. Apparently the first run of these drums were made in Ensenada Mexico (PDP factory). DW wisely moved production back to the states.

        I recently purchased a 6-piece Performance series kit and needed a snare to match...

        The quality is true DW. I also own a 1999 Collector's series kit, and the similarities are evident. Gone are the re-rings and the timbre matching, but most other points are covered.

        Like Collector's drums, the inside of the snare is finished in glossy clearcoat unlike the toms/kicks.

        As for sound, it's full and warm. Nice low-end. Doesn't cut like a metal snare, but sounds very good nonetheless. The 6.5" depth lends itself to rock music as it does choke if tuned too tightly. Flawless quality. I LOVE this drum!

        Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
