I play Drums but Never played Cajons before until a friend of mine asked me for help with percussion for an acoustic trio Gig, I didn't have one so he borrowed a Pearl Cajon, that was ok, but it did the job, that awakened my interest on the instrument, so for Christmas my dear Wife (God bless her) surprised me by allowing me to go to my local music store, try and choose a Cajon and she would buy it as my Christmas Present, me and my best friend tried all the Cajons on demo, and the most impressive sounding one was indeed this "entry level" LP Black Box! I love the satin finish but when I actually played was when I said THIS IS IT! so just for fun, I sneaked the demo model into the acoustic guitar room and started a jam that lasted around 20 minutes! and an acoustic bass player and other guitarist joined the fun! and this bad boy held it up amazingly well! we both couldn't believe our ears specially with the bass it delivers! you can clearly hear the difference between deep bass and cutting snare this Cajon produces, the pearl one that my friend borrowed and all of the other "pro Cajons" I tried in the store sounded so dull and dead, there was no distinction between bass or snares, just like hitting the same spot all over the front plate! when I left the store, I was so happy with my new instrument, I coudn't believe that the "cheapest and lowest quality" Cajon sounded way better than the other "high end" Cajons! now I own it and is so much fun to play! I never liked traditional percussion but the Cajon is just perfect for me, it's like an acoustic guitar but for drummers! you can play almost any rhythm section and still be able to carry it all with just on hand! perfect alternative for a drum set for acoustic venues! I played my first show with it and I was amazed by the thunderous tone and all the compliments I got from the audience! don't let the "entry level" label fool you, this Cajon is a Keeper!!!

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

It did take me a little while to learn the ropes, as I'm a new cajon user. Though I've used a few before and have been playing drums for years I had just never gotten around to buying a cajon for personal uses. I needed something that was cheaper than a more expensive model, but didn't sound like it was. This little beauty is just that. After I got the hang of where and how to place my hands as I played, the sound got better and better and now I can get any sound in the book out of it. It feels so natural to play and the black color gives it a sleek look that most others don't have with the plain wood finish. I've had multiple compliments on its sound and I've only owned it for about 2 weeks. Great sound and feel for the price. I'd say it rivals my mentor's much less frugal purchase. The only reason I took off a star is because i never give anything a perfect review. Even if it's deserving. Which this cajon is!

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

I actually bought this Box Cajon for my son who is a drummer and is going off to medical school and can't take his drum set with him. When he opened the box and saw the Cajon, he was ecstatic! He began playing immediately and marveled at the tone and versatility. Said this would be a great de-stresser; to be able to play this instrument in his apartment. I made my decision for this particular Cajon based on the earlier reviews and was very, very glad that I did.

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

I'm a guitarist most of the time, but I wanted some fun percussion instruments just for goofing around and decided to get this cajon when it was on special. It took a few minutes to figure out how to play it, but once I did, this thing was a blast!

It's well-made, holds up fine even with a very large fella like myself sitting on it. Tone is nice and even. It gets good bass when you strike near the bottom of the box, and has a nice, bright snappy snare sound when you strike near the top of the box. Once you get the basics down, it's like having a little portable drum kit you can sit on top of.

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

My daughter and I have both really enjoyed this cajon. She's 14 and primarily a guitar and bass player. I am 45 and started playing percussion about 1982 I guess...The absolute best musical experiences of our lives have been with me backing her up on this cajon. It could not get more simple and for me fulfilling. Pairs well either all acoustic or if she decides to play through her Blackstar Fly 3 in the park. It's already showing a lot of wear but we haul it around a lot. Price for performance I don't think it can be "beat". :-)

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

Received the Cajon just before Christmas and was able to offer it to a host of musician friends for the annual Christmas jam at my house. Great sound, great versatility. This affordable version does not offer an adjustment for the snare spring, but the whole point of this Latin street instrument is to find the range of sounds on the "skin". From a deep bass in the center to a rich snare at the top edge, there is a great range of sound. While you wouldn't expect a box to be that hard to construct, I've seen a number of other brands in stores that were not nearly as well constructed as this LP model.

I use this cajon to accompany my husband, who plays the guitar. I also play guitar but had wrist surgery and cannot rotate my wrist for chording. However, I can play the cajon! I want to improve on this cool instrument by incorporating more intricate rhythms. I sometimes play along with recorded music as well to enhance my skills. Overall very good product for the money and I am quite happy with the sound and quality. The Black Box Cajon is a good value.

This Kajon is really good if you want to mess around at home. Decent base response and good snair sound. It does lack a little on the high end, it's not as snag as other Kajons I've played. But for under 100 it's exelent

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

This is my first Cajon. I really like it. The tone of the box is really nice and simple to play. Just have to get used to beating my hands up. It looks great. Simple tone box and a great price. The shell seems very sturdy when you hit on it.

Comments about LP City Series Black Box Cajon:

This is my first cajon. It has a good sound and the low end is better than I expected. It is well built and has a quality finish. I guessed as to the "Best Uses" based on the sound and "playability." It is an outstanding beginner's cajon for sure, but an experienced player could get a lot out of it.
