Comments about LP Jam Tamb:
I recently purchased and used for the first time at a gig.
I love the size and how I can incorporate it into a tight space. The build is solid, and the rubber hit surface is great.
My only gripe is...there isn't much 'jingle'. No matter how hard I hit, I don't get much from it. I hear (and feel) more from hitting the rubber surface. Yes, I realize it's small and only has 6 sets of jingles...but I was really expecting a lot more sound. I use a small Meinl hi-hat post mounted tambourine that's better sounding...very surprised.
I bought it to replace another full size drum-kit type tamborine, which sounded great, but needed something compact. It's too bad...I'm going to give it another shot though, as I really think it's a great concept, and fits my setup like a glove.
Comments about LP Jam Tamb:
Best Tambourine I have ever used and I have used them all. I am ordering another just to mount on a pedal for other fun usage. Quality, price, and design all met beautifully. Now if LP or Meinl could design a better Ribbon Crasher than Rhythm Tech since the Gon Bops models are almost impossible to find.....but i digress. If you want/need a tambourine... Buy this!
Everything you need, nothing you don't. Just big enough to make an impact when hit but compact enough for placement anywhere on the drumset. Eye Bolt mounting makes moving the Jam Tamb from a hand percussion to pedal percussion with just a Gajate bracket. Jenigor plastic means no more broken tambourines after a couple months and the rubber bumper on the top gives you some nice bounce and will help keep wear and tear to a minimum.
LP has a reputation with its Jam Blocks, this continues the rep and shows they can expand on the concept. I'm just jealous I didn't think of this before they did. The jingles are held in well from what I've seen so far and I don't anticipate them falling off anytime soon. Eye bolt is sturdy and works well with numerous mounting options. The plastic will last longer than eye will. The only thing I wonder is how well the rubber "bumper" will hold up through years of abuse.
Value cannot be beaten. Costs the same as any other drumset tambourine but given the features and the fact that this is designed for drummers why would you choose the other type anymore? Plus this is best tambourine for pedal mounting EVER!!!! I think going forward you will see Meinl and others copy this design in there drumset tambourines. This may be a game changer.
