Comments about LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos:
I bought this for my son who wanted to take up bongos. They were not at all usable for learning. They were more like a model for your shelf. Very disappointed at the false reviews I read before I bought it. You might be able to play it with one finger, but there is no bongo sound. A HUGE waste of my money and they wanted me to pay them to ship it back.

Comments about LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos:
These guys really are mini as the description states, so just be aware. When they arrived, they were packaged very professionally by LP which made me feel good about my purchase. After some tuning and re-tuning, they turned out to be a lot of fun to play. I was able to use them at a function with just an acoustic guitar and the mini bongos and was surprised at what a unique sound that was had. Overall, I would recomend these as an additional sound for the percussionist. I am looking to find a way to piggy back them to my full size bongos. I think that will give a unique sound to my set up.
Comments about LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos:
Truly money well spent for this finely made instrument. Read all of my comments above - I can't praise this enough - glad I bought it - it will provide pleasure and entertainment for many years to come.
Having played Bongos in a little coffee house at the edge of San Diego State College in the mid '60s during my "hippy period" I am no stranger to the full size instrument. This mini is a true treat to play. I found it totally responsive to my finger playing style. I use the middle 3 fingers of both hands to get very rapid beats out of it and use a full slap only when needed. The heads are so responsive that it just seems to make my fingers bounce off the heads ready to sound the next beat. It is simple to tune the heads JUST BE CAREFUL to do it in mini increments so as not to damage the heads. The sound is awesome - but don't expect it to project like its big brother. It is absolutely perfect for just playing around the house as it has a muted tone - but if you really slap it then it will hold its own with acoustic instruments.
Amazing quality of build - like the manual says - "It is great for playing or displaying." The instrument is very well made and finished. The adjustable feature does its job very well - don't forget to tighten in "mini" increments so as not to overtighten and damage the heads. Speaking of the heads they are not "cheap" artificial heads - they are real quality "skins" and the sound and feel are fantastic. THIS IS NOT A TOY - it is a real instrument just downsized. The quality is just like that of all the Latin Percussion drums and is a joy to play as well as look at.
At first I thought it was a lot pay for a "mini" instrument - but this is not just a display piece - it plays even better than it looks. Well worth the money as it is a true instrument.

Comments about LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos:
The Latin Percussion LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos were a bit smaller than I had realized, but they are fun to play. I found it was a bit difficult to get a good sound out of them and I do not foresee using them instead of my full size LP bongos, but I do enjoy using them for the added tonal range.

So I got these for christmas and I have been playing them for a while now. They are definitely worth the money you spend. They are VERY small but that isn't a bad thing trust me.
Comments about LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos:
these bongos are great for the price, and they are great for traveling. they have pretty good heads, but i might change mine. the only thing that hapens is that if you play them really hard like in a godsmack song, the next day they will drop one whole step down. i recommend these bongos for someone who doesn't mind small size and a bit of tuning.
Comments about LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos:
These things are awesome, they are very very small, but don't underestimate these bongos. They can pack a punch, Really! they have incredible sound, fun to carry around, and show off to friends and relatives. And even better to just play.
Comments about LPM199 Mini Tunable Bongos:
These really sound like bongos, just way high pitched and surprisingly cutting. The macho head is a little too small to get a true knocking muted sound when playing a traditional martillo, but otherwise, you can pretty much do anything you want on these miniatures. Rim shots are a little hard to execute, again because the heads are so small. Open tones and slaps are fantastic. Real fun to play around with and super lightweight.
