every kit needs a cowbell. and if you don't have one, this should be your first one. The bass drum mount works great, solid. the wing nut that holds the cowbell can become lose, but only after hours and hours of playing. it has happened to me two times, but every time was after many weeks of playing at least two hours a day. so as long as you periodically check it, it will be fine.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I DON'T USE IT THAT MUCH, BUT WANT TO HAVE IT IF I NEED IT. EASY TO INSTALL AND ADJUST TO MY PREFERED POSITION. NICE TO HAVE A LITTLE "COLOR" TO YOUR SOUND. SEEMS TO HOLD UP WELL.

Very new drummer. This cow bell has helped me play with two hands (each hnand responsible split sides of the kit) i love it. However, the bracket doesn't really fit my bass drum.

I was very happy with the latin percussion cowbell. It looks a little small at first at only 4" wide x 2" high x 5" long, but it's killer. I also like the mount which has enough verticle room that I have my Plastic/Wood block above the the cowbell. I had read from another review about the mount slipping, but I rock out and have had no problems. I would definately tell a friend if they were looking for a good quality cowbell.

its a good bell, but the only way to get the best sound is to hit the front, the sides have a very dull sound. the mount stinks however it almost always drops the bell, i have to tighten mine everytime i play.
