Comments about Meinl 22" Byzance Vintage Sand Ride:

This is a great cymbal. I've played two of them, one being the one I own. The first one I played had a bit less wash and a more prominent bell. Mine is a bit more washy, has less of a ping, and the bell isn't as defined; which is fine for my purposes. If you're buying this cymbal, you obviously aren't in search of a ping ride. This cymbal "wobbles" with the smallest of hits. It has a great tone when you lay into it. The tone when played on top is a little bit less defined than I like, but this varies from cymbal to cymbal. I could see myself using this as a crash and backup ride eventually. Another nice thing about this ride is that it isn't too loud. I frequently play in an auditorium where I can't play too hard, but still need the full sound of crash riding. Since it opens right up, it's perfect for that.
I would buy this cymbal again in a minute. I love it.
