Comments about Meinl Byzance Benny Greb Sand Ride:

I bought this for my son when he had demonstrated some ability and desire on drums, but hadn't really started to specialize, and I wanted to get him one good all around ride. Since then he has really gotten into jazz and this cymbal sounds great for that music. I am impressed with the variety of sounds you can get out of the thing, and its wide dynamic range. My son played an acoustic combo gig last nite and the cymbal was never overpowering, but I'm pretty sure you could dig in with heavier sticks for a big band situation. The bell is excellent for those latin accents, and it crashes very nicely, getting surprisingly dark towards the edges. It's also not too heavy, so it will probably balance feeling-wise with some thinner cymbals that might be more traditional for a combo setting.

In my cave mannish sort of 70s based rock band, on the other hand, my drummer liked it ok as a crash, but not as a ride. I would guess it's more of a jazz, fusion, and funk kind of thing primarily.

          Truly Amazing Ride

Comments about Meinl Byzance Benny Greb Sand Ride:

I have had this ride for about 3 maybe 4 months now and I absolutely love it! It is amazing! Of course with all hand hammered and hand lathed cymbals, each cymbal is not going to sound the same, but you can't go wrong with the sand ride. The heavy bell is loud and cutting, and the bow has a perfectly beautiful balance of wash and stick clarity. With your favorite pair of sticks in hand, you can make some beautiful music with the sand ride. I also play multiple styles and the sand ride covers them all. All in all the Sand Ride is one truly amazing ride cymbal.
Beautiful finish and beautiful sound. However, if you can't live with a cymbal that gets dirty fast, this is not for you, because the sand ride is made without the lacquer in order for it to age faster," hence ""vintage series"".
Personally", this is the most and best amount of money that I have spent on my set.

          Sand Ride

Comments about Meinl Byzance Benny Greb Sand Ride:

I got this ride a few months ago and it just sounds the way a ride should to me. I had a Paiste Signature Dark Crisp Ride before which sounded great, but after playing this cymbal I'll never go to anything else! After playing this ride I began switching to all meinl cymbals. They made well, look great, and have some of the most innovative cymbals sound out there. If you want a ride that puts musicality first this is the best for the job!

This ride is quite possibly the best ride that can be purchased out there. The price is an amazing deal for what this cymmbal offers! Anywhere you hit this baby, it'll cut through everything! The bell offers a great clean and loud sound. It also functions as a great crash! Anyway you hit this cymbal, it will sound amazing! And it looks beautiful!

          Beautiful

Comments about Meinl Byzance Benny Greb Sand Ride:

This cymbal is great. It is very articulate, responds great, and has a beautiful wash. It may be small, but it doesn't feel or sound like it. It's got huge sound. It works great as a ride and a crash. Beautiful tone. Great cymbal.
