Comments about Meinl Byzance Brilliant China Cymbal:
The 14 inch Meinl Byzance Brilliant is absolutely amazing. "Mini" chinas often look, feel, and are very brittle. While this has the look and feel (to the touch) of a normal "mini" china, it has the endurance of the strongest cymbals out there.I use it along side an 18 inch Zildjian Oriental china trash and the two go hand in hand. It has that quick, cutting sound with the perfect amount of sustain (For me at least). Definitely perfect for breakdowns, blast beats, basically just riding on.
Comments about Meinl Byzance Brilliant China Cymbal:
this is the best china i have ever had or even played. i have played sabian aaxtreme china and owned a wuhan. but this china surpasses both of them. the trash sound it produces is just what i was looking for. it is loud of course, as all china's are but it still doesn't overpower the rest of the set. great value and great quality. i recommend this to anybody wanting an outstanding trash china.
Comments about Meinl Byzance Brilliant China Cymbal:
I had the 18" one of these for 10 months before it cracked, and it was probably the best China I've ever used. Great balance of searing high-pitched trash and a little bit of gonginess underneath to carry the sound, when I think "china cymbal", that was the sound that came into my head. Then a lathing crack emerged on the flange at one of the thin points, so I sent it back to Meinl and got a brand new one on the warranty. That was even better! It was thinner, so it had a much darker sound, that thing roared! Unfortunately after a few months that also cracked - it was hammered even thinner along the flange so it was inevitable, I don't hit MASSIVELY hard but I definitely could hit lighter. I've tried both the 14" and 16" in shops and they're also amazing.Bottom line, this china sounds incredible, but some of the explosiveness and the perfect volume for rock/metal comes from the thin weight, which means durability can be an issue. If you're a rock drummer who wants a seriously impressive accent cymbal, or a metal drummer (with good hitting technique!) who's looking for that quintessential "brutal china", check this out!
Comments about Meinl Byzance Brilliant China Cymbal:
Love the china. I bought the 16 in and its amazing. Chris adler has the 17in prototype of this, and if u play any lamb of god, it matches perfectly with it. The only bad thing is it looks fragile. But all chinas are usually fragile. Just don't beat the crap out of it.
