Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

This Crash has the perfect balance of everything. It is soft but the sound is expansive. It has a low tone but some how fits just fine as a expressive snare/cymbal combined hit.

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

I'm a little cautious when hearing the sound clips as they don't always represent the cymbal well, but I'm incredibly pleased with this cymbal. Overall the timbre is perfect for what I was looking for. I was worried it may be a bit too dark and dry as I've not had any direct experience with many dark cymbals. This was not the case upon playing it. It yields excellent volume, a medium sustain and such a unique voice. I will be buying more of Meinl's Dark Byzance line in the future.

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

As a long time Paiste Signature user, I was intriqued to investigate the Byzance Dark series for a color contrast on my kits. The 17" dark did not have the explosiveness as the 18" so I now own it. The 14" Hi Hats, 10" splash and 21" Dark Ride are a perfect sonic blend to my arsenal. Meinl is my second favorite brand now (maybe close to 1st)

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

Tried the 17" before I bought the 18". 18" wins explosiveness and sought after dark dry sound. I am a die hard Paiste Signature user for years. Byzance Dark series is a welcome blend to the arsenal. I also have the 14" dry hi hats, 21" dry ride and 10" dry splash.

I couldnt be happier with this cymbal. I have the 17" and it blends great with my 18" meinl mb10 medium crash, 20" zildjian k ride and zildjian new beat hats. Separately it has nice contrast. It has a dark earthy grit to it that dies off quick, and has a low lingering ring. Very interesting cymbal. If youre looking for something a little different for your setup. This is your cymbal. I love it.

this thing is the darkest cymbal i have ever owned. really loud and mixes very well in a mix. has a very distinct flavor all its own. also the loudest cymbal i have (it's the 18" model). playing without earplugs may hurt. i absolutely love this thing and plan on buying more from the byzance line.

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

I played this crash (18in. and 16in.) in a Guitar Center store about a year ago and I was totally blown away - they sound incredible together and I instantly fell in love. Finally got around to getting one myself (I got the 18in. and will be buying the 16in. eventually as well) and I got it in the mail today. I have to say, my earlier excitement for this crash was well-deserved! It sounds great. It's not too loud for an 18in crash, but the quality of the sound makes up for it. Great for breakdowns and buildups. Meinl makes great, high-quality cymbals and I absolutely reccommend this!

A big ride in a small crash

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

for any drummer who likes to ride on the crash this is the one for you. I have the 16 inch and all i can say is that some times big things come in small packages. Meinl byzance series are the best cymbals out there so many choices that if you dont like this one look at the other meinl byzance series they have a sound for you.

          Meinl Byzance Dark Crash

          By NunsAreTight

          from Dallas Texas

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

So I've had this cymbal (17") for several months now and I think its incredible. After the 4 months I've had it, it doesn't even show the slightest bit of wear. No stick marks or blemished visible the the naked eye. I was so amazed that I even tried to find some with a magnifying glass... Not a scratch. Meinl makes the, by far, most durable cymbals and I personally believe they sound the best. This specific cymbal has a really explosive attack with beautiful, dark, trashy overtones. When I play jazz I will lightly ride it for an incredibly complex, dark wash. It makes a perfect accent cymbal for rock. I personally love it the most when I play metal/hardcore music. It puts out a great amount of volume with a trashy and dark, yet somehow slightly bright sound. This is an incredibly complex and sophisticated cymbal that will not disappoint you. If you've got the money, invest in this cymbal.

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal is earthy and amazing. It feels like it'll never break and sounds great in many different settings. Hit it a bunch of different ways and get a bunch of different sounds. Stop reading, go buy it.
