I am a professional drummer with 30+ years experience. My cymbals are Zildjian and Paiste. I bought this set mainly for the 13" hats for my practice kit and I figured getting another couple of cymbals in this pack instead of just the hi hats was worth a try - I'm reasonably impressed. The hats are bright with a decent chick sound and are not particularly loud, which I like. The 14" crash is bright with a fast decay but also has a lower harmonic which sticks out and isn't very pretty on it's own, I doubt it would be apparent in a gig environment, tho. It sounds like a medium instead of a thin - a thin would have been better, I think. The splash is pretty good, fast, loud, quick and bright - its a useful addition. The ProMark sticks are the size that I use and I don't particularly need beginner's drum lessons so 1 of 2 of those add ons is a pretty good score. These would be a good starter cymbal pack, add a ride and you're all set. If you remember that these are not top shelf cymbals (without the top shelf price tag) you will like them, I think. I feel perfectly happy with the purchase and would recommend them for a beginning drummer or for a practice set.

Purchased 2 packs to create DIY electronic crash cymbals for an acoustic drum set conversion(these will be dampened with clear rubber). They worked great for that. I played them out of the box, just to see how they sounded. Kids, save your money and purchase a higher-quality cymbal pack! You really should use these outside of the rehearsal room. Hi hats were the only thing that were close to 'barely acceptable'. Crashes sounded bad.

Got this for my budding 13 year old's first drum set. He has been able to get all kinds of interesting sounds from these cymbals without any instruction yet. I was very pleased with the weight and quality of these cymbals but mostly the Price. As musicians ourselves, the drum set prices were out doing our available budget for him.
