Comments about Meinl HCS Super Cymbal Pack:

I have been playing for I hate to say it over 40 years. I have a set of vintage early 1980's Zildjian cymbals that I had finally cracked my favorite 18" rock crash and my 12" splash. I originally set out to replace these two cymbals. then I ran across the super set by accident. did a ton of research on these things. read the reviews everywhere etc. I decided to purchase a whole new set(7 cymbals total) for cheaper than what these 2 cymbals would cost me to replace. I MADE THIS PURCHASE WITH A BIT OF SKEPTICISM. How good could this set be at slightly more $$'s than one quality proven crash. I got them and installed them with new rubber post protectors and those foam cympad things (which I also highly recommend). I was astounded at the sound of these things. I really love the splash and crashes, and the china has grown on me as well. the 2 crashes play great together or separate or with the splash. I recorded these things onto my computer and they sound fairly awesome without any doctoring at all. Now to the important part...I am a very heavy hitter and because of that use very small sticks with the nylon tip. these cymbals sound just as good with a light, small diameter nylon tip as they do with a big fat wooden rock and roll stick. I been beating on them 3 to 5 days a week for a month now and no sign of any damage and they just keep sounding better!! the best cymbal money I ever spent and I've played them all!!

Comments about Meinl HCS Super Cymbal Pack:

I've been playing drums (non professionally) for almost 30 year. These cymbals are exactly what you expect to get out of them. For an entry level set they sound great. I've been playing them now for awhile and they show no signs of cracking or warping. The bell on the ride is a little finicky, hit it too hard in the wrong spot and it kinda distorts, that may change the longer I play though. I'm glad I got them and you will be too

In my opinion Meinl hit the nail on the head with the HCS line. This "entry level" cymbal set is most certainly a good buy. For the price you can't go wrong.

Comments about Meinl HCS Super Cymbal Pack:

I was shopping around for cymbals to buy that would be just for shows as well as studio. A lot of options I was looking at had me ordering certain cymbals separate and being a bit more costly. Then, I came across this pack that came with every size cymbal that I am currently using. After some research, video watching, as well as getting to test them out myself, I invested. So far I have used these on stage twice and they've been great for me. I'm also very picky about how my china should sound, but this china did not disappoint me. I play in an Industrial Rock/Metal band and a lot of the beats I do are ranged from Metal/Rock/Punk. Also, I usually play wooden tips, but after buying these cymbals I decided to see how they'd sound with a nylon tip. I've decided to start playing nylon tips, because of how great it sounded on these cymbals.

Comments about Meinl HCS Super Cymbal Pack:

I recently got back into drumming. I'm value conscious, I wanted a lot of options to experiment with and didn't want to spend a lot of time hunting for used bargains.

Meinl HCS made entry level sound better than expected. You do need to be realistic and understand what you are getting. IMO HCS is a starter/practice/backup/hobby line.

You can't expect to professionally record or gig with most of the HCS line, but overall the sound is good for the money spent, especially if you buy the super or ultimate pack on sale. Some pieces don't sound great, but others sound surprisingly good! I sold what I didn't like and found other inexpensive HCS pieces that are acceptable. I can't comment on durabilty, because I haven't had them long, but none have folded in the last month of use.

Yes, you can find better deals on used higher quality cymbals, but if time is an issue or you just want a lot of pieces to experiment with for not much money, HCS super pack is a great option. If you need to record or gig, you will need to find your signature sound higher up the scale. I will replace these with my dream cymbals slowly.

Comments about Meinl HCS Super Cymbal Pack:

A very bright sound that cuts through the mix. Not much sustain, but for our context (smaller venue), that makes for much less noise. Can't speak to longevity as we've only had these a couple weeks, but hopefully they'll last. Really seems a great deal for the price.

Comments about Meinl HCS Super Cymbal Pack:

These cymbals are not only inexpensive but of high quality. The coating on them does chip a bit, and the wear is easily shown, but they are heavy duty and built to last for a very long time. I play hard rock/heavy metal, and there's no denting, cracking, or anything like that on them. They are very responsive and sound awesome, especially if you're a loud player (Jazz musicians will admire the ride cymbal which has a nice bell to it). I highly recommend.

right out of the box, these cymbals sound surprisingly good! might need some more breaking in to get the sound i like. however, the china, sounds a bit too ringy for my liking. doesn't have that nice trashy sound i'm looking for in a china cymbal. so, more than pretty good for beginners, a bit more than okay for more expreinced players.
