Great sound, but not for rock.

Comments about Paiste Giant Beat 18" Crash:

Look, this cymbal sounds amazing, however it is EXTREMELY fragile. Do yourself a favor and search "Giant Beat denting". This cymbal will dent up immediately if you play anything harder than jazz or folk. I tried contacting Paiste once this happened with mine and they were absolutely NO help. Now, Guitar Center has an incredible return policy if you buy the coverage but if you don't want to have to deal with that hassle, get something else. All I can say is this cymbal was a giant disappointment.

Old School Kick Ass-ery

Comments about Paiste Giant Beat 18" Crash:

I first got turned on to the sound of these cymbals through Death Cab For Cutie's Jason McGerr. This crash is absolutley astounding. 100% professional quality. It has a nice, heavy sound, but also can give a more high-pitched crack sound when necessary. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! These are the only cymbals I'll ever need.

Comments about Paiste Giant Beat 18" Crash:

Just got one of these brand new and I am very impressed. This crash/ride is so versatile I use it in all types of music from jazz to hard rock. It has a smooth, warm and cutting sound as a crash. Works great as a light jazz ride too. I have it mixed with 2oo2 crashes and it blens perfectly! Buy one now!!

Great Sound

By Nick Fiora

from Boston

Comments about Paiste Giant Beat 18" Crash:

I bought this cymbal about four months ago and I immediately fell in love with it. It cuts through the mix very well and has a sound that is a perfect medium between bright and dark. I own both the 18 and the 20 inch. The 18 has a perfect crash sound while I use the 20 as a mix between a crash and a crash ride. If you want to get a sound similar to that of Keith Moons in his early days then I highly recommend this cymbal.
