I love the Paiste sound, and thanks to the PST-5 series and Musician's Friend, I can afford it!A beautiful, affordable cymbal made from the classic Paiste 2002 bronze alloy, and it sounds great. Has a nice metallic ping on its bell, a trashy, dark, shimmering sound on the body, and an earth-shattering, almost gong-like crash when struck on its edge. Mine is mounted upside-down for this purpose. I use nothing but Paiste PST's on my kit, because their process ant technology make them far superior to Sabian and Zildjian's low-end (budget) offerings. This is the best "Cheap" china I ever heard, and will serve me nicely until I can hopefully someday afford my own set of Paiste Signature Reflectors.I would recomend these to anybody!

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

first off, I ordered this cymbal and it came in within great time. the sound on this isn't that bad actually. I was expecting a brighter more splash tone to it but it turns out it's great for breakdowns.Great for the price and it seems pretty durable so it should last the buyer. if your looking for a metal/hardcore sound, then this is the one you want.

Add that

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

This cymbal is a great, low-cost way to add that trashy feel to any style of music. It works well as an accent, but repeated hits is where this china really shines. The tone is a good wash, and it decays fast enough to use it like a ride cymbal. Out of all the cymbals I own, this is one of the best chinas by far, especially for what I paid.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

I got this cymbal about a month and a half ago and I am very happy. It was an impulse buy, but I am so glad I bought it. I have the 18 inch version and love it. Very good trashy sound. I wanted an overpowering china with a good decay but not instant, and this has given it to me. Perfect for breakdowns, fast or slow, an opening for a fill, or just as an effect. For the price this is simply the best their is. PST 5's are some of the best cymbals for the money. So if you thinking about buying this china.....do it!

My China Search is Over

By Anonymous

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

I have the 18". I didn't expect much when I saw the price but I was pleasantly surprised by this cymbal's tone qualities. When played as a ride, the middle portion of the cymbal has a very nice typical china sound where the stick pings all sort of blend together. However, unlike many other chinas I've played, the outer flange allows each ping to be deciphered individually while accompanied by a soft warm background ring. The sound you get when you whack the edge like a crash cymbal is as stated in the product description---very nice.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

Well, after having bad luck with cymbal purchasing, I decided to look at another brand..Paiste. My Zildjans wouldn't last more than a year. But on to my review: This is probably one of the best chinas that you will find for the price. The sound is great, its very durable, and its cheap. You CANNOT go wrong with this cymbal.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

If your looking for a china that will cut through virtually ANY mix, this is the one for you. You can really hear it shine through. For the price I think it's a good buy. I play fairly hard, nothing to crazy, thin cymbals normally last me about a year. This china has held up very well. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable china.

This has got to be my favorite china that I've ever heard. Very good all-around china with a sound that isn't too piercing, like some chinas can be.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

Overall this cymbal is great. The price is perfect. This is a cymbal for everyone that likes a loud trashy china. Do NOT let the price fool you. And don't let what your favorite drummer plays influence you. Remember he/she is given cymbals. Oh, yeah, and it's thick enough that it's not going to break when you start going crazy hitting everything in site at the end of a song...we've all done it live!!!!

Nice China!

By Plays2

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

I bought the 18' china last year and it is also my first one. At first the china had a really pangy sound and then 4 months passed and the china was getting thrashier. The china is still in good condition after playing metal and hard rock. One thing about this china is that it is LOUD, it is the most loud cymbal on my drum set right now. I haven't tried it live but I'm sure it will sound great. If you want a good and inexpensive china then get this one :D

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

This china is absolutely great. i would buy the 18 inch if i were you, the 16 is too high and "pangy" which if that's what you're looking for, go for it. for my first china, i went looking for a basic china, none of this "wild" china or "fast" china, and this is what i decided on. if i were you, i would try to find one in a store, so you can check the quality in person, (you never know what might happen when you're package is being shipped), so if you're in a similar situation, (shopping for your first china) jump on this, it's a great deal for the sound, all in all, you can't beat it.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

I just received this china cymbal today. I ordered it after returning a Wuhan 18" china that I felt sounded horrible. I suggest this one over the Wuhan if you are looking for a cleaner sounding china that doesn't hurt your ears.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

Personally I like the sound of the Paiste and Sabian line of cymbals, so I like this china. It is amazing. For the price it is well worth it. It is twenty times better than the damn wuhan chinas (never get one).It is loud and sounds great! For the price it cant be beat!

THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

Any hardcore or metal drummer in my opinion needs a china and this china is it. I own the 16" and 18" and they both sound incredible (especially for the price) This cymbal is mad for hectic breakdowns like in suicide silence or just for in fills. this thing has served me well. its a definite buy :):)i have had it for 1 and a half years now and there have been no signs of cracks or chips

Bad at first

By GretschDrummer-D8ih8

Comments about Paiste PST 5 China:

At first this China sounds a lot like a gong, and isn't very Trashy. But after a weak or so of playing, it finally get's broken in. And it sounds MUCH better. Get's a nice trashy sound, Also it is VERY loud. I would still recommend a Wuhan China, But still this China is nice.
