Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
Just got this crash. first off, i hit pretty hard, and my technique's not that great. but this crash can definetely take a beating. also, pretty loud. but I wouldnt suggest using it as a secondary crash, because the sustain is pretty long, and the response isnt very fast. still works as one, though. a little wispy/silvery for my taste, but thats just me. great line of cymbals, I'd take them over the zildjian zxts, meinl classics (but frankly i don't like meinl in general), and b8 pros (but those are nice too. check em out, you'll get a more rock like, classic sound from em). overall, great crash, great price - Buy it!!! you won't regret
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
I purchased the 16 inch crash and ive had it for almost 2 years now. This is a great a crash, mine sounds really bright its great for a secondary crash. It also has lasted very long and is still going, I hit fairly hard as well. I liked the pst 5 line so much I purchased an 18 inch medium crash and a 19 inch rock crash they both sound amazing! buy this!!
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
I own from the PST5 series the 16 and 17" Medium Crash. And Paiste is putting it to then next level with the PST5 series. By far the best lower budget cymbals on the market at this time. I match them with My Sabin HH ride and New Beat Hats. Very good cymbal, good pitch, and very responsive. This cymbal will not beat the top of the line cymbals, but are probably the best cymbals for a lower price that will come close. I do live gigging with them and have been playing for over 20 years. These cymbals are definitely worth every penny. Great line of cymbals.
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
These are the best cymbals at the right price for int. players. these are better than the zildjian zbts and zxts they blow em away! Get these cymbals!
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
i got this cymbal cuz my budget wasn't so high and the bottom line is that it's the best pick for that cheap. it totally adds life to my set. plus it's a paiste which in itself you can't go wrong
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
I've played this at my friends house, and he brought it over to mine quite a few times. This crash is only $20 more than the ZBT, but its quality is far superior. This is an amazing crash for beginners.
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
I've got all 3 PST5 mediums (16",17",18")as well as a 19" rock crash and a 14" thin crash. I like the focus of the pitches, and the spacing between each sizes' pitch. I also like that they don't have a bunch of undertones washing around when played. Upon comparing them to equally priced cymbals, they are far superior. I find them comparable to some of the top of the line cymbals. These cymbals are the Best for your Money!
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
I have to say I was surprised. The attack is mild, with the climax of the sound coming slightly after the initial strike. Volume and projection is AMAZING. This thing is crazy loud, even when hit with the bead of the stick. The tone is actually a bit lower than I expected, lower than what is displayed on their website. It's not a terrible difference though. The sustain, oh THE SUSTAIN!!! This thing rings FOREVER!!! So much that I had to slap a piece of Moon Gel on it to calm it down. The tone never wavers, it stays on the same decreasing tone all the way to the point where it finally shuts up. The bell is nice, could be a bit louder. Great finish too. It's actually a bit brighter than what the pic shows. Shows fingerprints well.Definitely a good crash for haulin' butt on the chorus of a hard rock or metal song, but I'd stay away from it if you play quieter stuff. Also, if you already have a crash that has long sustain, try the PST 5 Thin Crash for a shorter tone to complement this monster.
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
I got the 17" version to replace a funky ol' Zildjian crash-ride. I thought this cymbal would be a significant step up, but only sounds a bit better than the old banger and the 16" Paiste 201 series that is languishing off to the side of the kit. Maybe part of the problem is that my other main crash is a Paiste Signature. Anyway, this is a solid cymbal, but I just wish it was a little more resonant and musical--you've got to really tag it to get the tone out of it, and I'm used to kinda going easy on my gear...
Comments about Paiste PST 5 Medium Crash:
This crash actually doesn't actually sound that bad for the price. I'm not saying it sounds that good at all, but its sooo much better than those cymbals that sound like plastic. If you want to add a mediocre crash to a beginner's kit for real cheap, and want sound quality similar to the sabian B8's, than try out these cymbals to see if you like their sound.
