If you're looking for a great rock cymbal that you can hammer home and still get a great tone out of every time for a great price compared to other quality cymbals, this is the way to go.
I've been an extremely hard hitting drummer for the past 6 or 7 years. I play with my cymbals relatively low, they aren't swinging above my head and yet and I've broken Zildjians, Sabians, and Wuhans. After joining a band, I decided I would need to replace my damaged cymbals. I didn't want to go cheap, but I didn't have the money for high-end cymbals. I don't like Zildjians or Sabians because I've had bad luck with them, so after hearing about Paiste cymbals, I researched them endlessly. I settled on buying the PST Rock Crash 16" to use as a crash cymbal next to my main crash cymbal that I use to ride on during rock choruses. (I used an 18" Wuhan Crash, and it was way too thin, the poor thing never had a chance. I don't think it was worth more than $50.) Back to the point, I bought the Paiste PST 5 back about 4 or 5 months ago, I've hammered it almost every day since, and there are no signs of wear or tear. I love this cymbal to death, it's loud enough to cut through at band practice, it's got a beautiful shiny finish, much better looking in person than in the picture, and it has a beautiful tone that makes you want to stop playing and listen to it fade away. It's not top of the line, I understand that there are cymbals that are better than this one, but for the price, I don't think it can be beat. After playing this Paiste, i never want to use any other brand again. It holds up great, and it has a beautiful, glassy, icy tone. I was surprised of this myself because the cymbal is only 16", but even the bell had a beautiful tone, not too washy, just enough of a ping for accents, I love it. This is a great cymbal, the price is almost unbeatable, it's such a deal. I'll never get rid of it. I'm now looking to get a Paiste RUDE Ride/Crash to replace my Wuhan because I'm so confident in Paiste.

I bought this 18 inch Rock crash about 6 months ago, its not bad for a practice cymbal but i realllllly wish i had gotten a thin crash. I love the pst5's with a passion. They are so inexpenseve, soooo durable, and sound amazing. Do not buy the pst5 ROCK crash. It is way too loud and way too dark and way too heavy. Really. The PST5's however are amazing. Get the thin or medium crash. This cymbal is way too heavy their description is wrong. If you want a bright cymbal trust me, get the thin or medium pst5.

Great Value

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash:

These Cymbals rock!. There is absolutely nothing on the market that touch these things in terms of bang for your buck. They sound great!Anyone who is complaining about breaking these cymbals needs to learn proper cymbal striking technique. Any cymbal you buy, if you hit it incorrectly with enough force, you're going to break it.

A Beautiful Sounding Crash Cymbal

By Chanie Bernard

from Kaplan, Lousiana

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash:

This Paiste PST5 Rock Crash is an amazing cymbal, especially for the money your paying for it. It is the best sounding crash cymbal I have ever heard, (I have the 18in). This cymbal has a great tone for any type of music but sounds great for that old Bonham style drumming (seeing as Bonham used Paiste's). The bell on it is clear and very bright and if you play this cymbal like a ride cymbal it sounds better than most ride cymbals out there on the market, and its a crash cymbal! Paiste did right by this cymbal and all their products are up to par with this one, as I use all Paiste cymbals. Great product, great value, what more could you ask for? Keep on Paiste and thank you for a great product.

GREAT CYMBAL!

By Jake-0PlbM

from Okinawa

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash:

This cymbal is absoloutley amazing. I went down to guitar center to look for new cymbals, and was looking at the zildjian customs, but then I looked at the price, and for anyone on a budget this cymbal is the closest you will get to customs or AAX for the price! It may be a little more expensive than the other cymbals in its class, but its worth every penny. That and I am a very heavy hitter. The reason I was buying new cymbals is because my zildjian zbt cracked all the way to the bell. After 3 months this thing is still holding up like the day I first played it.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash:

I play heavy rock and this cymbal sounds good for my basic sound. I'm primarily a paiste man and have been content for many years with their lower-mid price lines. This is no exception.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash:

I havr been drumming for over 2 decades and has seen a lot of stuff come and go. I prefer the paiste 2002's but purchased the pst 5's as a practice setup. I have to sy i was amazed there was a difference in the sound but the work! My 2002's were lost at the airport (later found!) and i had to gig with the 5's the rocked great choice from begginers to pro's.

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash:

Not a noob, been playing for 25 years and for a cheap cymbal these are great, I like the 19" way better than the Apha 18" medium I have and it cost like $50 less. They sound better than most others in their price range, but woudn't recommend getting anything smaller than an 18" It's got a nice musical tone and a sweet bell that is large and almost ride-like. It didn't get a 5 because very few cymbals get a 5 in my book, but this one is a great buy.

      Very nice cymbal

Comments about Paiste PST 5 Rock Crash:

If I could go back in time I would get the 18 inch because of the lower tone. This cymbal sounds a little higher pitched than most 16" cymbals despite its heaviness. But other than that, this is one of the best cymbals Ive ever played. Its heavy and sturdy. It can hold up to hard hits, but it sounds best when hit lightly and makes for a very good ride despite the fact that its a 16" but dont let that fool you. It has a very high pitched ring to it. So if your looking for an alternative ride, or a high pitched crash, this will oddly enough work either way. Although, I would prefer an 18" Crash/Ride. Either way, the entire Paiste PST 5 Rock series is a very high quality line of cymbals. Buy all of them if you want some good cymbals that wont burn a hole in your wallet...or just buy the neccesities, preferably a ride, a 16" and an 18" depending on the tone youre looking for. Ive heard the hi-hats are nice too.
