Great cymbal at a great price

Pros

  • Bright Sound
  • Full Crash
  • Responsive Feel

Cons

Comments about Paiste PST 7 Crash:

After playing 2002 cymbals for 35 years, I purchased a set of PST7's as a practice set and to knock around on some gigs. The look and feel are similar to the 2002's but the sound is slightly different due to differences in the lathing/hammering process. For gigging players: keep your pricey 2002's at home and use the PST7's to knock around in local clubs/bars...you'll be VERY surprised by the quality and tone.

Comments about Paiste PST 7 Crash:

the 16" heavy crash and 18" medium crash sound great. The 16 regular crash sounds more like a splash than a crash or thin fast crash,. not loud enough for a real band. the 16" heavy crash sounds great, sounds like a 16" alpha thin crash with more sustaiin. I love the 18 medium or regular crash, its the best sounding pst crash made. I also use the 20" light ride as a crash and works great for that!
pst 7 sound great long as you buy the right weights. go to youtube for sound samples. there are 2002 sounding with less sustain or cut as 2002 cymbals just 1/3 the price. really nice cymbals!

Comments about Paiste PST 7 Crash:

Got the 16" to use in my 2002 set-up since it looks very similar and the sound sample sounded like a tonal fit on the Paiste website. I'm guessing the sound alone will probably record well however overall it was an unfortunate purchase. The weight, look, feel and responsiveness was similar to original equipment cymbals you get with a starter or child's set. Little resonance and dead feel. Exchanged for a heavy version. Time will tell on that since not here yet. I have a feeling I'll be getting another 2002 later instead. The new Kasza cymbals per online demos sound better and may be a better value in the price-range.
