Comments about Paiste PST 7 Heavy Crash:

Well I had tried a PST7 14" thin and 16" crash previously. Found them to be flat and unresponsive, possibly good for making YouTube videos or perhaps recording but not a good fit with 2002s for live performances. This 16" heavy crash would have worked with respect to overall characteristics if it had not been for the typical cheap B8 sheet cymbal loud disharmonic overtones. Sounded pretty much just like the old Zildjain ZBTs and Sabian B8s to me. These look great with 2002s but both 16"s had to go back because the sound is just acceptable IMHO. I used the 14" as a special purpose cymbal.

Comments about Paiste PST 7 Heavy Crash:

I have an AAX X-Plosion 18" to accompany this PST 16" HEAVY crash. I know to stay away from thin and medium thin cymbals for the style of music I play, which is rock, metal and hardcore, so your adrenaline can sometimes get the best of you With that said, I expected this cymbal to be a little bit thicker. It feels flimsy compared to the AAX. Granted I know how to hit cymbals, I feel that you have to be a tad more careful with this one in particular. This cymbal will be more of an accent cymbal on my kit, whereas the AAX will be my main crash.

The cymbal itself has a nice bright sound to it. As long as you take care of your cymbals, you should be fine with this one.

Comments about Paiste PST 7 Heavy Crash:

My previous model cracked after about 2.5 years of constant hard playing. after trying out and researching a few "upgrade" models from paiste, zildjian and sabian, they were all too bright/modern or too heavy to rock out on. So I'm buying another one of these pst 7 heavy crashes. I play in a few different loud rock bands ranging from heavy/hard to more pop oriented and this thing is excellent for crashes/accents as well as crashing/playing a beat on. it really mixes great with my bands' sounds as well as my other cymbals (all heavy or rock weight). it is explosive and bright but the tone is somewhat mellow compared to most "bright" crashes, has a timeless and somewhat neutral sound perfect for loud rock in my opinion. Great range in volume, too. It's pretty loud if you just crash it but if you play a fast ride beat or ring it, it can get REALLY loud for a good explosive moment in a song.

I've found some of the tone is lost when recording compared to my other cymabls but it's not a pro cymbal and for the price you aren't going to find a better comparable cymbal. it's nothing fancy but it's plenty loud and versatile. the crash cymbal equivalent to a steel stage snare drum. I have received a number of compliments from audience members and inquiries from drummers after playing live about this particular cymbal. perfect if you need something that fits right into a mix, provides clear accents, and compliments a variety of drums/cymabls, without standing out too much.

Comments about Paiste PST 7 Heavy Crash:

Great sounding 16" heavy crash, this is still a thin crash but its much better than the 16" medium crash. bright and sounds great, very 2002ish sounding but a tad brighter and less sustain. perfect cymbal for rock, alternative, jazz, blues etc. Great all around cymbal. other reviewer is crazy this crashis nice for the price, you wont be disapointed if you like paiste b8 bright sound, this is not b20 its much brighter
