I have an 18" and a 16" and I love them both. They fly under the radar until you get stern with them, they speak back with authority covering the whole frequency range. They are the "seasoning" on my kit. Definitely worth the money, and they are not cheap.

I have officially received the last of my crashes. I now have 7 and have completed my family. I just got my 17" after much anticipation. My new sweetheart hisses. I have all Signatures, and this is by far the darkest (which is the reason I bought it). I now have the brightest (Crystal) to the darkest (MK Dark Energy). I couldn't be happier with my balanced mix of Paiste beauties. Beautiful, beautiful cymbals that will bring a tear to your eye.

This is a cymbal that is as beautiful sonically as it is aesthetically. I own the 18" model, and it is a stunning and impressve presence on a kit. When crashed, this cymbal explodes with a dark and complex mix of overtones and midrange cut. It would work well for nearly any kind of music, but I prefer it with high volume situations where you can really smash it, and it's powerful attributes can shine. Overall, it's a very nice cymbal, well worth the money, and will last for many years.

This is an awesome cymbal. You better really like dark sounding cymbals if you're going to get this one because its extremely low pitched and DARK. And I mean dark. Its explosive. It has quite a bit of washy sustain, but it blends in really well with other sounds. The sustain is very earthy, almost sizzly. Sounds very mysterious, almost etheral? I guess you could say. I have the 18" model and no signs of cracking, Ive only had it about a month though. Paiste did a fantastic job on this bad boy.

I bought an 18" model a few months ago to compliment my two Giant Beat Multis (18" and 20", and this cymbal is downright amazing. It has such a dark roar with a beautiful shimmer the moment it opens. It's sensitive but has enough weight to stand a beating. I will certainly be getting a 16" within the next month, to round out the kit. Expenive as ****, but worth the stretch.

I currently own the Paiste Dark Energy 17" and 18" crashes and the 14" Dark Energy Hi-hats. These are the coolest cymbals I have ever played. I currently also own assorted Zildjian K's, K Customs and UFIP cymbals. These are also great cymbals, but Paiste has taken cymbal making to the next level with the Dark Energy line. The sound of these cymbals are darker than the Signature line and have that classy jazz sound of the Traditionals. The sustain is beautiful and shimmering on the crashes. The Hi-hats are extremely versatile. Great crisp crunch and breathy sounds when hit open. You can play any type of music with these hi-hats. You'll quickly become addicted to this new line of cymbals from Paiste.
