It's quite pricey, but definitely worth it. This is what a splash is supposed to sound like. Quick, bright, glassy, and focused. It feels pretty delicate, but has held up to my abuse so far. I definitely recommend it.
This cymbal is on the light side so it gets beat up pretty bad, but the sound is very bright and full without being too bright like an A custom splash. I owned the 10inch model for 2 years before it was stolen sometime last December. Definitely a great sounding cymbal. I play heavy music, but this can fit well into any sort of mix.
I have been using the 10 inch for about a year and it is great. It can take a massive beating and has a great sound. I also found it to be very versatile, I can use it for accents in Jazz or to raise the pitch of my crashes in about anything else. Well worth the money!
I love this splash. I bought this cymbal over a year ago (8 in), and it still sounds amazing. My style changes depending on my mood and I can get very aggressive and this splash has stood up to my beatings. Very crisp and distinct sound with a short sustain. I have shopped around and have yet to find anything that sounds as good as any of the paiste signature series cymbals.
I own the 12" Paiste Signature Splash and it offers a great full, high pitched splash, with long sustain for a splash. I just bought a smaller splash with shorter sustain so I can use them both as needed. I love it.
I got this over the mike portnoys...why? cause these sound the same, like glass, crisp, and short, BUT, they can take a LOT more of a beating. The 8" is sick! for jazzy sounds or pop, and your 10-12 for rock, either way, its a short, controlled, less china sounding and most of all, what a splash is supposed to sound like: GLASS!
I've owned a signature 8" splash since the mid 90s. This is an excellent cymbal. Projects nicely live or during recording. I was in a prog-rock band for several years and this little cymbal took A LOT of abuse. No cracks to this days. There is some small denting on the edges that has occurred but they have not affected the sound to my ears. Once again these have occurred after 10+ years of it being a staple of my drum set.
I wasn't sure how this was going to sound being that it is 2" smaller than my hi-hats, but man, was I amazed. I wasn't surprised as it is a Paiste Signature, and I can not rave enough about these awesome cymbals. This little baby sounds beautiful. I love my new addition to my Signature family. I highly recommend this splash.
I just picked this up yesterday. I tried all 20 differnt splashes my local music shop had. My final choices came to a 10" HHX Evolution splash and this baby. I spent 20 minutes between the two trying to make a choice, I loved the dark, trashy, rich tone the HHX gave. But int the end it was just a little too dry for my taste in splashes. This cymbal is fantastick, quick, clear, crisp, and bright. It works well with my 8" Acustom splash and the rest of my cymbal collection which is 21 at the moment. It works well on both of two drum kits and for many kinds of playing. I think I'll go play it some more.
