I mainly play Jazz, so I found myself in a lot of smaller venues. Mainly coffee shops, small stages, corners of stores, etc. so bringing a whole drum kit wasn't working out for me. I needed a small kit, so I looked into purchasing junior kits and even that Manu Katche kit until I found this. I ordered and it has worked out perfectly. I used one of my old 16x16 floor toms (from my first Pulse drum kit) and although the tom hoop wasn't a perfect fit, replacing it with a CB drums hoop fit it perfectly. Next I went and purchased a Gibraltar Dunnett Rail Tom Mount, Gibraltar Bass Drum Mounted Cymbal Arm for a nice retro look, a 10x7 tom and 12x12 floor tom and wah la, a small drum kit, actually even smaller than the Manu kit. Now there's no where that my drum kit can't be, I can fit into almost any corner. I would suggest though that if you do attach a cymbal arm to your bass drum like I did, you get real bass drum spurs because the weight of a 20 in (i ended up downgraded to a 16in) ride cymbal, well those legs that fit in the floor tom can't handle that kind of weight.

I'm a grown-up, so I should have read the entire description. My bad. I realized this system lacked a way to attach the the pedal bracket to the drum, instead requiring the user have or obtain an ISO mount to insert a 7/8" post into. I wanted to be able to use the tom with my regular kit without an addition piece of hardware permanently mounted to it. I managed to solve the problem with a plank of plywood with a 7/8 hole in it cut to fit between the rims and the lugs, but it would have been better if Pearl had worked out a way to clamp the pedal bracket to the drum rim. Then it truly would work with any tom (as long as the legs fit, that is!).

Does not fit all floor toms! Beware, and check sizing of your existing legs! The Tom legs that come with this kit are not particularly heavy duty. Do your homework first.

Make sure you check the size of your floor Tom legs prior to purchase. The legs with the jungle jig were too small for my Pearl floor Tom.

If you need to play gigs where space is limited, the volume needs to be at a minimum or you want a setup that will fit in a smaller vehicle, this might be just the thing for you. I actually made my own hip-gig/jungle kit using this as a foundation.
Just keep in mind that you'll need the Pearl ISS mount and the BT-3 tom mounting bracket to make it all work.

          Great Product

Comments about Pearl JG16 Jungle Jig floor tom to Bass Drum converter Kit:

I would buy this again. I have had a blast converting my tom to a "jungle" bass. Great when you want to gig with a small subset of your entire kit. One thing, you will also need to have a tom mount; I just "borrow" a tom mount from another part of my kit; if you are converting a suspended 14" or 16" tom (that is, it does not rest on 3 legs but rather uses a tom mount like most smaller toms), of course, you will be good to go.

BTW, you can find new & used tom mounts cheap on eBay if you don't otherwise have one. (Sorry MF. :-)
          Design details well thought-out.
Built like a tank. Will last forever.
Perfect product... turns your floor tom into a righteous small bass drum; that makes it valuable to me.

          Everything does as it says
I bought this to convert an old pearl export tom to a bass drum. It did the trick perfectly. This is a great device for putting together a parts kit from ebay. Although I had to remove the memory lock to get the right angle for the drum to the pedal. If you were to buy another ISS mount for the other hoop and mounted it on the top, you could easily mount a rack tom. This is a great idea and Im surprised more people don't use a tiny bass drum/floor tom
Perfect Pearl quality. Everything is very well machined
Can't beat 30 bucks to make a little bass drum

The perfect solution for small stages!

Comments about Pearl JG16 Jungle Jig floor tom to Bass Drum converter Kit:

Lately I've been playing a number of gigs where stage real estate has been in short supply. The stages have been postage stamps, really. I converted an old Pearl 16 inch floor tom into a kick using the Jungle Jig - it's been a beautiful solution. My updated little kick takes-up far less space on stage, and I love that it's far smaller and lighter, and now takes up less space in the car. Again, the Jungle Jig is a beautiful solution if you're short on space, or your sick of hauling a monster-sized kick. Well done, Pearl!

          Very workable concept

Comments about Pearl JG16 Jungle Jig floor tom to Bass Drum converter Kit:

The Pearl JG16 is a very good idea, it enables you to use your floor tom as a bass drum and effectively make your drum kit smaller for those gigs where a full size kit is over kill. I bought the kit for small jazz combos. I converted my Premier 16" by 18" floor tom, you will require the optional Pearl 'ISS' which is usually supplied with a BT-3. A issue I had was that my Premier hoop was not compatible with the Pearl ISS reciever, however I had a spare Yamaha hoop which did the trick. This is a very tidy concept and works well for musicians who may have limited space or are doing gigs in smaller venues.
