first off, I play brutal technical death metal, so I have been eagerly searching for a snare that has a great LOUD pop with tons of bounce, and some warmer undertones; after trying out all the snares in GC to see which one sounded good for my genre, I was oddly drawn to this snare, mostly because you could hear it from a mile away, and it had a firecracker sound to it; just what I was looking for, now I'm going to go pick one up and put some nice heads on it.

I played this bad girl and I had to convince myself that paying my bills was more important than buying this gal. You can dig into this girl and she'll let you get as hard as you want without choking-up. Also has a beautiful overtone that is complimentry and alows the drum to be heard. The hardware, finish and everything are beautiful. Shes the girl wearing the slinky black dress that will give you the night of your life.

This snare blew me away. It is small but it sure is loud. The rim shots are so explosive and it has so much snap at a high tuning.

I bought this 13x7 Pork Pie Little Squealer used because I needed an upgrade from my Ddrum Ash snare. Huge step up. I tuned it really high, it has such a tight crack. Great snare for metal drummers. The only downside I have seen so far is that it seems to be warping a little. The two hoops are no longer parallel to each other. Still sounds great somehow. Recommended.

Very Good Deal; A Solid Snare

I bought this snare used (I believe someone bought it and returned it in the same day) for about half price. I usually don't buy things spare of the moment but I wanted an all maple snare and had enjoyed playing on a kit with a 12" primary snare before. It was a gamble, but man did it pay off. This snare its bright, crisp, responsive, and clear. It is tunable and holds fairly well. Every week or two slight adjustments have to be made to return, but I mean these are slight adjustments. It sounds good tightly tuned as well, and really snaps for reggie/funk styles. I am not a metal person but you could probably use it for metal; it projects quite a bit over the kit if need be. To give an idea of the quality of this drum, it was recorded with a Pearl Master's kit and didn't seem at all out of place. I couldn't have been happier with the purchase. The only problem I really have with this snare is that the snares loosen up over a few minutes of playing (7-15ish). I just tighten them back up, and it hasn't been too big of an issue. This could be only a problem on my snare, and is probably an easy fix, so don't fret too much. All in all, if you're on a budget and need something tunable, with a solid maple tone, this drum can deliver with some knowledgeable tweaking. It has my endorsement.
