Great drum, unique look and versatile sound. Best for medium to loud volume music. My issue is with the snare throw off... It loosens up from the inside causing the snares to looses tension very easily. It became very annoying during gigs. Eventually I removed the throw off from the drum and discovered under the rubber gasket two brass screws. The lower one was about three turns loose allowing extra play in the throw off. I tightened it up and the issue was solved! I would recommend keeping this in mind to other drummers experiencing snare loosening issues. If the problem comes back I will be installing a lock or star washer to see if that solves the issue permanently.

everyones reviews said it was the best snare ever, but i cant figure it out like they did. i put a reverse dot evans head on it and ive been tuning this thing up and down for 3 months and cant figure it out. too high and its choked with no ghost notes, too low and its weak and airy with weird vibes. but the fact that i cant tune it doesnt make it a bad snare, everyone else loves it. im just not as impressed as they are.

I bought this about a little over a year ago because I was tired of my stock snare, one of the best buys for my set yet! I play hardcore/metalcore/metal music and this snare has such an explosive and loud sound. It fits perfectly with all types of my music as well!! Totally worth it!

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Snare Drum:

I have been looking for a nice snare for almost a year. I took my time, and I didn't let the budget affect me. This snare exceeded all of my requiernments, and best of all, it's affordable. I love everything about this snare. The sound, quality, value, look. If you want something different that is not a 14x6 snare, consider this snare. Very versitily and sounds awesome.
This snare is a beast. The 13" diameter makes it able to be tuned very nicely. I like it medium tight, and very dry sounding. The 7" depth gives it a.... well a deeper sound. The vents allow the snare to sound dryer by letting the air escape faster. It also makes ghost notes stick out and it increases overall volume. If you put the evans HD Dry or the G2 Coated, you can't go wrong with the sound. It sounds like Underoath's sound for the snare. Amazing.
The craftmanship is amazing. The snare sounds awesome, and unless I do something stupid with it, I doubt it will ever break. The hard rock maple exterior gives it a warm but aggressive sound.
This is the best part about the snare. It sounds like a snare at four times the price when tuned correctly. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Unlike other companies, this snare is not made in China.

Bought this drum based on the reviews. Out of character for me... but the enthusiasm is justified. Had it for a few weeks, tried different batter and snare heads, and the original heads. Conclusion: What do you like? The heads all work fine with different coloration and response. Puresound snares make tuning easy. I like the strainer. Took it apart to lube it to make it last. Nothing was loose. Put it back together with Loc-tight. I'm going for a Supraphonic sound and response. Almost there... I'll be installing an Ambassador head soon. The very center of the oft-mentioned heavier heads is a little choked for my taste (being very picky, here). I too, have had lots of snares. This is a drummer's snare drum. Lots of voices to choose from. Have fun!

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Snare Drum:

I got this snare a couple of years ago right before a youth retreat I played at and I was a little scared because I usually don't play a snare at a gig the day after I get it. But I had faith in Pork Pie, and did not let me down. Granted, the black lugs that come with it do detune, so I ended up getting new lugs for it, but that's a cheap fix. Otherwise this thing sounds like a beauty. The crack it gives off is phenomenal. I'm not even going to say it was good for the price because it's better than DW snare drums I have used for recordings and better than a lot of other snares I have. I have four other snares, and this one is my main snare. I also the have 5"x12" little squealer, they compliment each other very well. Great job Pork Pie.

I play drums since I was 6 years old, for more than 30 years now. And this snare definitely beats all the snares I owned before. This little guy has extremely high pitched tones that just break through everything. Loud, very sensitive and even with the original heads it already sounded awesome. Buy a few high quality heads and this thing will make you fall in love with it from the minute you play it. I dare somebody to find a better snare in this price range, and far above!

This snare is just the best. I have played many different snare types, brands, sizes, etc. And this is by far the best. Not only can this snare get loud, but sensitive as well. You can barely tap the snare head and get a good snare sound out of it. The vents (holes on the sides) let sound escape quickly, so you don't get any ringing or ugly sounding overtones. I put a Genera Dry head on the top, and I get a snare sound that has a good crack, but has a good, fat presence as well. This is the snare sound you have been looking for, the one most drummers want and dream of getting! Get this little piggy today!

This puppy has a very sharp, cutting attack plus all the low end you even need from a snare. Plus the fact that it is covered in vent holes makes it very loud. Im so glad i decided to buy this.

I have totally fallen in love with Pork Pie Little Squealers after finding this little slice of heaven at Guitar Center! The 13" diameter gives you a possibility to have a high tuning, while you can maintain a depth to the sound due to the 7" depth. The sensitivity is absolutely amazing: this snare gives perfect ghost notes, then you can lean into it and make it squeal; the "crack" it gives is amazing! This is pretty much a dream snare for me!

I've been wanting this snare for over a year, finally broke down and bought it and I am very glad that I did. I love the sound and the stick response. Rim shots are great. Several of the reviews have mentioned the "crack" of this snare and they are absolutely right. It has a definite crack to it. I'm in love!

I first played this snare drum at Guitar Center a few years back, and have been wanting to get my hands on one ever since. I finally did, and right out of the box this thing sounded phenomenal. I play metal mostly, and when you crank it high for that situation it's fantastic, also good to tune low for depth. Overall this drum is excellent, and the satin finish is great. The vent holes are also a great feature, the drum sings through the whole room. Definitely pick this thing up, it's worth the money.

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Snare Drum:

Holy cow, this baby sings. It has a very nice high pitched crack when tuned up (which is how I have it) and it still has GREAT sensitivity and buzz. I can't quite figure it out, but for some reason, if I ever need a quick short hit, I can make it play a quick note with no resonance at all after the initial impact, but if I take that same stroke and apply it to a fast rool, it resonates amazingly. Also, the rim shots are the best I've ever heard on a snare, and I've played on everything from Tama Starclassic Bubingas to Pearl References. Nothing beats this snare. I'm sure if you tuned it down, it would be GREAT for jazz because of it's sensitivity. Unless you are in an 80's hair-metal band, I can't think of a genre this snare COULDN'T be played with. Don't let the name fool you, it does a WHOLE LOT more than just squeal (although it is quite good at that...). I'm thinking of buying it's smaller counterpart for a side snare, although I don't see why I would need to because of the vast amount of sounds I can get out of it. The only problem I encountered with it is when I put a new head on it, one of the lugs kept becoming really really loose, but that was right by where I was doing rim shots, so it might be due to that and the new head that hadn't stretched yet. I also had it just sitting without any use for a few weeks and the lugs loosened up a bit over that time. Despite that, though, the lugs are very easy to work with, which makes that looening thing not a problem at all, and the switch is extremely smooth. I can even turn it on and off with my knee while I'm playing. In other words, GET THIS SNARE!!!!!btw, put a Remo Ambassador singly-ply white coated head. A thin head is a MUST to allow this drum resonate to it's fullest potential.

I have been looking for a great 13"x7" snare. I read alot of reviews and since I was on a budget I wanted to get the best drum for my money. Well this is a monster drum and the price makes it a must have. I have 5 snares that I use on sessions and I take 2 on tour. I now take this drum on the road. It has a amazing tone that is crisp with lots of attack and enough low end to make it beefy. If your wanting a piccolo sounds drum, this isn't what you need. It also records very good. You wont go wrong getting this drum.

I've totally pimped this snare out with Remo Pinstripe Coated batter and Evans Hazy 300 resonant. Also put on Puresound snares for more of the sound i love, nice low and full. A good buy :)

Comments about Pork Pie Little Squealer Snare Drum:

I bought this snare because I was intrigued by the venting, the reasonable price and that I didn't have a snare this size. Also I had heard great things about Pork Pie snares. When the drum arrived I was impressed by the finish and the overall look of the snare. I put on a Evans head and some Puresound snares because that's just what I do out of habit. I tuned it somewhere in the middle range and WOW! The Lil Squealer really popped. When you tune it low you get a nice fat smack. I play a lot of backbeat rimshots and this drum was perfect for that application. I did notice that after a few weeks of playing I was having trouble with the tension rods loosening up. This is not the first time I've had this problem with my style of playing so I got some tension rods from TightScrew and that solved the problem. The Lil Squealer is a great first or second snare and the sound, quality and price makes this drum a really great deal.
