this was the last piece of the puzzle when I was upgrading the heads on an older kit. I have a black suede powerstroke 3 batter head and this flame head with a 6" center port on a 14 x 22 shell, and the sound is as awesome as the looks. The colors are much brighter than they look in the picture, and with my black shells and black heads my old kit has new life with style!!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Awesome head! Looks great on my black kit. But because it is a resonant head, don't expect it to make your bass sound incredible. It does sound better, but not a wicked noticable differance.

It definitely has the look, but when ported, no matter where, the sound changed dramatically for the worse. I don't have the money for suberb miking equipment, so I need to port the head in order to record and mic live, etc. I also like for the air to escape from the head. This was not exactly the right head for that purpose.

My wife purchased this product for me a few months back, and I cut a 6" circular hole in the center of the head to have access for my kick drum mic. I am a hard hitting drummer, but I've never had an experience like I did with this head. The paint or whatever was used to cover the front of the head started to come off in big chunks and the head itself started to tear around the the hole. I've been playing drums for about 20 years and have used Remo heads only. I have never had a problem. I've used clear and color-designed heads and even colored my own and never even had the centerhole tear' Let alone have the design chip, flake, or peel! This is very disappointing being I really liked the design and it went very well with my shell design and the name of my band. If there was any warning about cutting a hole, I did not see one. I would like to purchase another one, but am not sure I want to take the chance of the same thing happening again.
