Nice Option for dampening

By tmont007

from Tacoma, Wa

Comments about RemO's Tone Control Rings:

These work well. They are considerably narrower than Evans version, but a tad thicker. I actually prefer these. Marginally, over Evans. I ONLY use them on toms.
MF had them on back order for a long time.
No features realy to speak of. They're round?
Mylar plastic like a white uncoated drumhead.
Kinda spendy for what they are.

No Ring with RemoOs

By John Matuszek

from Dallas, TX

Comments about RemO's Tone Control Rings:

These are now standard equipment on my kit for tuning purposes - snare and all toms. I have a 2nd set also just in case I accidentally crimp one as will always happen.
I have always used these anti-ring rings on my snare, and love it there. I had just put on new Remo Pinstripes / Ambassadors (batter/reso) on the set, but still wanted to reduce the ring further but not lose the sound or punch. I play an older 1993 Pearl BLX "All Birch Shell" set, and they tend to be a bit "boisterous" - no matter how I tune them high top / low bottom, high top / high bottom, and anywhere in between I still couldn't get rid of the ring I wanted gone. When I put the whole set on the toms (10, 12, 13, 14, 16) the change was PERFECT. I'll have to tune them a bit higher now, but can do so without any concern for the ring now - these kill that off but leave the punch sound I'm looking for.
Would be a 10, but I had to trim off almost all of the rings 1-2cm to make them fit my set. Only the 10" tom fit perfectly to start. Maybe my rims are considered a bit short compared to norm, but a little more leeway would be better. Once I carefully trimmed, they seat fine now and the quality is good.
Cheap efficient way to reduce the ring. I do not like the gel option.
