        Comments about Sabian HHXtreme Crash:

This crash in the 17 inch brilliant finish, is one of the smoothest dark crashes I have that is becoming my main crash. Like the Evolution Ozones I think but only smoother, the trash only coming out when you lay in to it. Outshines, to me, my Sabian Artisans, Legacy and AA crashes. Pure Awesomeness get the brilliant!

            Comments about Sabian HHXtreme Crash:

Sabian really needs to change the name of this cymbal. The Xtreme tag probably discourages a lot of musicians who would view it as only useful for metal, etc.

In reality, this cymbal has a very nice and balanced dark and trashy tone with medium sustain. I bought it to replace a Meinl Extra Dry Thin crash, which had too short a sustain for my taste, which had replaced a Bliss Crash Ride (too much wash and sustain). All are 'trashy' in the sense that they are hammered roughly, but of the 3 I found the HHXtreme to be the most balanced and usable.

I recently recorded with an A Custom Projection 18" on my left and a 19" HHXtreme on my right. The HHX is about 10% quieter in the mix, but I much prefer the short, frothy ssssh kind of sound to the bright and sharp A Custom sound. Similar in function to the Zildjian A EFX crashes which Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins are using - quick, balanced sound, make their point and get out of the way. Highly recommended.

I play technical progressive death metal. I own the 20" HHXtreme crash, and it's perfect for those accented heavy riffs, not the greatest to ride on though, only for slow metal slam parts in leu of a China. but for a consistent crash to ride on might want to use a 17" AAXtreme for that, the 17" AAXtreme sounds pretty sick-will be my next purchase for sure, the HHXtreme is good but it lasks the shimmery brilliant that I love in the AAX line. But as far as how it sounds, it's really quick, and has sort of a trashy(ish) tone as well, which is great! I don't prefer to have a large crash that lingers for too long-it overpowers everything; this puppy is dark, great for slam or doomy sounding parts, the bell is unusually very very bright and I use it rarely, but it's nice and loud for accent hits, I could imagine this crash being great for jazz and worship and even blues and rock, for death metal, it's the bees knees... and so many drummers envy me for having it!!
            great quality materials
Great value at the price I got it for.

            Unique, creative, ...amazing!

            Comments about Sabian HHXtreme Crash:

I?ve read many positive reviews on these cymbals; some have different opinions describing the sound. Obviously the best option for sound would be to actually play & hear these cymbals, however some of us don?t have that opportunity. Instead we rely on reviews, youtube, etc?and basically take a chance. One review I read described the sound of these cymbals more like a Chinese cymbal, and others have stated the sound is more like a crash cymbal. We all know every drummer?s ?ear? & opinion is different, however? I think the HHXtreme have the characteristics of both a Chinese & a crash cymbal, which others have also stated. But... a cymbal that speaks with it?s own unique voice. I own the 19-inch HHXtreme crash?amazing! I couldn?t agree more with SABIAN?s description, ?...crash explosion with the raw attack of a Chinese cymbal?. The cymbal responds fast with decay, creatively, and straight to the point. Also, I wanted to add?about half of the hammering on these cymbals is inverted. That combined with ?modern? lathing makes for a very unique & explosive crash cymbal. Now?I ?d understand if someone thought, ?Great cymbal, but it doesn?t fit my set-up?, it?s not for everyone. I use my cymbal as an alternative or effects crash, others use it as a main crash. The HHXtreme are very unique cymbals that could fit with any music genre.

ok so i thought this would be a complete cross between a china and a crash but heres how i see it...i hit it once fairly hard and it sounds like a dark crash but it explodes fast like a china .... when you ride then it really sounds like it's got some china in it... it's got that trashy ring to it which i love because i've never heard a china that sounds like this....it's got a hint of a jazz ride in there too....i wouldn't use it as your main crash for rock drumming...i.got a medium rock crash as my main bright crash and this one is my dark crash for contrast and china like riding...i love when a cymbal has many talents and this is it... tho it doesn't sound the same as the samples on the sabian website.... oh well... you'll love it if you want a breakbeat electronic sounding trashing cymbal... i love it and will never get rid of it

I just bought this cymbal from musicians friend. I love it so much. Its dark, and trashy. I wouldn't use it as a main because of all the other crashes i have, but if you do it's wonderful for a main. Everyone needs this cymbal. If you buy it you will love it like i do.

I had the 17" and must say when I ordered it I started to get nervous that it may be too trashy. I Have 3 Chinas, all the slash and trash I need, and was looking for a quick cymbal with a full crash. I was shocked when I first played this cymbal, talk about response, you can play it with a pencil :-) and it sings. As for the sound, it's not like a China at all, It inherited the attack from the China, but with the B20 alloy, the hand hammering and lathing, make no mistake this is a crash cymbal. Now notice I said "had" at the beginning of this review... I sold mine when I got the complete Paragon set... and I've missed it ever since... which is why I am here now ;-)

            Complete Crash!!!

            By Pocket

            Comments about Sabian HHXtreme Crash:

First of all, my fellow drummers need to do a better job identifying "their" specific sound needs when it comes to buying cymbals. The crash is absolutely great; it's between a crash and a china. When hit hard, it resembles a large china and when it is swelled on, it starts off loud and becomes very full and "airy"(very beautiful sound). It has very good projection and I luv the natural finish to it. Different drummers have different tastes, but this cymbal is superb whether it fits yours or not. So, if you want a crash, get a crash(brilliant finish); if you want a china, get a china; but if you want a unique blend of both that neither can duplicate, GET THIS!!!

            Comments about Sabian HHXtreme Crash:

This cymbal just brought happiness to my set. I mostly used Zildjian A Customs but to tell the truth the looks alone brought me to the hhxtreme. When I first heard it, it was like the heavens were put into this cymbal. When you barely strike it, with a finger or something, the "explosion" comes out. I don't know what else to ask for and I do not know how you could not like this cymbal.

            Good for Auxiliary

            Comments about Sabian HHXtreme Crash:

This is a great cymbal, with an excellent attack, but I had hoped that it would have a faster decay. It would be a great cymbal for accenting, but I would not reccomend it for a primary crash. If you're looking for something more standard and not as washy, try the HHX or AAX Studio or Sage crashes, or even something like a HHX Evolution crash. Overall, great looking cymbal, with lots of usefulness, but not as something you're going to be hitting every couple of seconds.
