Comments about Sabian Vault Artisan Crash Cymbal:

Good dark crash w/ a great bell to add to my mix of cymbals. Got a great deal on a cymbal blowout. The best I have ever seen on this product! I took one star from review because of the slow delivery - about six weeks. I love the cymbal though, & may be going back to Sabian because of it.

Comments about Sabian Vault Artisan Crash Cymbal:

I got the 16" model and it is by far the best sounding cymbal I own. Rich yet clean, penetrating yet sensitive... everything I want in a cymbal!
I usually play pretty quietly, so I can't say how it would be for louder rock and metal, though I imagine it would still cut through fine.

Comments about Sabian Vault Artisan Crash Cymbal:

Adding on to the previous reviews, this crash is truly in it's own category when it comes to describing it fully. A clean, full crash with a touch of trash in the sustain of the cymbal. It feels like 2 crashes being struck at one time. What I love the most about this cymbal is the separation of the bell sound and the crash sounds. With the majority of crash cymbals when you strike the bell, it sounds like a blend of crash and bell instead of being two separate sounds. This Crash has the bell characteristics of a ride cymbal, which makes this crash very versatile musically. Now this cymbal will test the dynamic range of the player because it is very responsive. In conclusion, you can't put a price tag on good music, and this is it right here.

Comments about Sabian Vault Artisan Crash Cymbal:

This crash is my main crash in a set of cymbals I have the utmost respect for. It falls right in with my other Sabian HHX's because it is just as cutting, complex, smooth and even more it's personalized by the Artisan who made it. Mine (17') has the right amount of trashy to it yet sounds as clean live as a mastered recording in the mix. Not cutting enough for Heavy Metal or Extremely Hard Rock being just a 17 but it out sings its size. And really it would be too thin for those heavy hitting styles. Small, really small rooms make it loud but still very useable as you could tap it or play it with your hand even. Great in the home studio as well, which makes it the go to cymbal for someone who loves their craft and makes the money off of it to afford these cymbals.

                    Bight, arrogant, endearing cymbal!

Comments about Sabian Vault Artisan Crash Cymbal:

I bought this from Musician's Friend based only on reviews from other websites and youtube demonstrations -- and I'm glad I did.First of all, this cymbal is a work of art. Its craftsmanship is palpable, it looks and feels like something explicitly designed to do what it does and, as my bassist remarked at a show, it looks great under lights! But more important is its sound. This cymbal doesn't away from the limelight. It's bold and penetrating and makes its presence known. It has a shimmery, bright personality with a quicker decay than most. I use my 17" model with my snare hits, saving my big crashes for my 18" Sabian Manhattan Jazz. However, the Artisan more than performs well; it shines when i hit it and its my go-to cymbal for accents and projection. These Artisans WILL NOT sound like a regular crash cymbal - they're professional and different than the rest. So please expect them to be noticed rather than fade back in the cymbal wash of generic crashes.I've given it 4.5 stars for value simply because it so expensive, but you'll be paying for quality and workmanship, not just a name. In fact, the Artisan crash is another step in my weaning away from Zildjian and towards Sabian.
