I currently own and play a 16" A Custom Medium Crash Cymbal and I absolutely LOVE it!! This cymbal is very responsive, bears a bright, loud attack, and fades out reasonably quick. Since it is medium weight, it has more of a "rock cymbal" sound, but as a drummer who plays a very wide genre of music, I find it fits in pretty well in any situation.
Like I mentioned, a full on hard hit really brings the kit to life, but even played lightly the cymbal adds a bright lively sound to the kit. You will not be disappointed with this cymbal in any live or studio scenario, simply put: it rocks.
I feel that should note that this is one durable cymbal. I've had my 16" for a few years now and it has survived my hard playing crack and chip free...and it still has that bright new cymbal shine!
Drummers, I think you agree with me when I say no cymbal comes cheap these days!! Do note that we are talking about Zildjian, so you are paying for a top notch quality cymbal!

I bought the 17in crash a while ago. I took it home and was testing it out. It sounded great a nice great quality crash sound with a full bodied response. Not too high pitched but just right. Then I realized that I wasn't able to hear it over the drums, so I took it back and got a Sabian AAX-plosion crash. That solved my volume problems. Nice cymbal, but not loud enough for my taste. Maybe I got a bad one or something. If I was loaded, I would buy one to use for accents however.

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
Really like the cymbal. Great ring and durable. Highly recommended along with other A Custom cymbals.
This is a very nice sounding, durable cast cymbal. This is the way to go if you're serious about drumming.
Well made, sharp looking cast cymbal. Not so thin that they crack like their sheet cymbals.
Much better then their less expensive sheet cymbals which so many people buy in an attempt to save some money, but soon they will find that they need replacing because these cymbals are much more more prone to cracking or chipping.

Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
I use the A Customs exclusively. I have a mix of thin, medium and fast. I use them based on what I am playing at the time. I pound my drums and cymbals and have never cracked one. I even clamp them down with no problems. Very fast attack and rapid decay. I use them for recording and live gigs. These are the absolute best.
Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
I bought the 17 inch medium crash as my first high quality cymbal. When I first bought it, it was a big transition but after a week or so, I got used to it and let me tell you these cymbals are incredible.
Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
This is the first Zildjian I have purchased, and it has been the best purchase of my life! It has every thing a cymbal of mine needs; a bright, explosive crash, with a decay that is just perfect, volume control, and most importantly, durability. I've had this crash for several years now, and it has stood up rigorous gigging from a guy that has broken all the sticks and drumheads he's owned. This cymbal is perfection at it's finest.
Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
These cymbals are awesome! I have a 19", I plan to get a 17"...This cymbal blends perfectly with anything you can throw at it! Of course you have to hit it a little harder than most cymbals (because its a medium crash) but its loud, has good tone, and looks good! More than worth the price!
Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
I play classic rock and oldies and only use Zildjian cymbals. This is labeled a medium crash & Zildjian says it's the thickest crash they sell but it is really pretty thin. The sound blends perfectly with my other A's & older Zildjians (Rock ride, splash, new-beats & thin crash). GREAT CYMBAL!
Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
I love these things! I currently own a 15", but also have played on a 20" and hear it regularly at church. What I like most about these is that when you ride on them, you can hear each note, which makes the beat evident (and head-bangable to), unlike a fast crash, where its just a big "shhhhh" sound. They have very high attack right when you hit them. These things are pretty thick too! Theres no signs of mine breaking any time soon! Mine is very warm and cuts through just about anything. I will definetly be purchasing a medium crash for all my future cymbal needs :)
Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
While Zildjian describes this Medium Crash as the thickest A Custom, don't be fooled. It is perfectly capable of a warm sound and that "shimmering" tone we're all familiar with. It's capable of providing everything from explosive accents to a simple figurative "nod" on beat one of a phrase. If you're playing a rather quiet passage, it is even feasible to ride on it. The only negative here is that you need to slice it pretty hard to get a big sound out of it. Overall, though, its myriad uses and great sound make it worth more than it's alleged monetary value.
Comments about Zildjian A Custom Medium Crash:
I've had the 20" for almost 2 years. This cymbal owns for two reasons. First, it's the only crash I haven't broken. Second, it's the best sounding crash for Rock (or louder) music. I give it a 4 for value because it's not cheap and the volume is overpowering in small clubs, limiting its versatility.
