I've been playing the 18" for 30 years. It has never let me down. I rock the crash; I ride the crash; I crash the crash; and I even sizzle the crash. It has a bright, projecting sound. I know some of you like the darker tones, but you have to have at least one brightly powerful crash... and this is it. A. Zildjian - you can't go wrong. I have thinner crashes, but this, and crashing the Rock Ride, cut through the amps and PA live. Hit it softer, and you get a softer crash...still bright. It's a little hard controlling the overtones in the studio, but once the sound engineer dials it in, it sounds perfect recorded too.

My friend let me borrow the 16" style. He told me that I could have it if I liked it. So i thought Zildjian A series how can it not be good? It was horrible. I hit it and it hurts my ears. The sound is horrible! Sorry Zildjian I absolutely do not like this cymbal!

      A great cymbal.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

I saw a lot of reviews mentioning that the cymbal is a little too heavy or thick. This is true, when I first got mine I was a little annoyed with its thickness. But, if you keep playing, this cymbal will love you. Once you "break" it in you will like it much more than during your first play of it. I have the 16" model and its the crash cymbal I prefer to ride because of its heaviness. Its thickness really allows it to take a beating. These line of cymbals will flow very well with the Medium A's, so you can mix those cymbals and come out sounding great. I highly recommend buying this cymbal. Long live Zildjian.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

I bought the 18 inch crash and have had it well over a year now. I was trying to break it before the warranty but proved unsuccessful. The cymbal is very bright sounding it by far stands out among all my cymbals. It's the heaviest crash Zildjian makes and has studio like qualities. I'd buy it all over agian. Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal is the GREATEST i had one bought for me, used, and it lasted for about a year and a half. And now i am buying anither one i believe thayt these are the best cymbals you have to hit them harder so if you play soft then i wouldn't buy this but if you play all different kinds of you should deffinantly get this!!! i own the 16 inch and it cuts through everything!!!

      Well built but questionable sound.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

I can't decide whether or not I like this cymbal or not. It's not as bright as I would like it to be but it's decent. The bell has a nice sound to it. And I got a used one (2 years old) and it looked brand new, minus the fading logo and a little bit of dirt and stick marks. The decay is too long but that makes it good for riding on. It's a good cymbal, just not exactly what I'm looking for.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

The best thing about this cymbal, is the crashiness of it and the cutting edge it provides to my set up. I got the 16" free from a friend. I've fallen in love with it, and I plan to get either an 18 or 17 along with it. Love it. Great buy.

Cracked within one year of normal use

Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

I have two of these cymbals, a 16" and a 17" - last weekend made it a year that I owned them. Also, last week I noticed a crack in one of them and today I noticed a crack in the other. I can't afford to spend alot of $ on new cymbals everytime they crack.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

This cymbal is horrible. Very dull crash, and literally has to be hit with a hammer for it to sing. Not suitable for any type of music PERIOD. Do yourself a favor and get an A Medium Crash. And if you have this already, too bad for you.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Rock Crash Cymbal:

If you play metal or any form of hard rock this will work well with you. Still holding up great after a year and I got it used. But if you ever play softer music at all I'd recomend getting a thinner cymbal.
