I've owned two of these both 19's I got the first one about 6 years ago, and when I received it it had a nick in it. Bought it from guitar center who insisted i nicked it and was trying to get a my money back. nick turned to a crack within 2 weeks. that is why I gave it 4.5On the other hand I bought another around 4 months later and haven't had any problems with it. it does sound different from the audio file they have here, more pang than trash but still without a doubt the best china I have come across. It DOES NOT mix well with A's only plays well with other K's so unless your looking towards all K's I would go for the one in the series you own. But if your playing K's you will absolutely go nuts over this china.

You know this is a great cymbal because it's Zildjian. Excellent quality and you can't go wrong with K Custom. However, there is better. I have been using Zildjian for my entire 3 years of drumming. They're awesome cymbals. I wasn't even planning on researching for another cymbal brand when I was looking for china cymbals. But then I saw the clearance sale for Wuhan China Cymbals. These babies are the real thing, hand-crafted in China. Similar to Zildjian's K Custom Dark China, they are loud and have great dark, explosive and trashy qualities. But the price was the real decider of the two. A 16" Wuhan China Cymbal costs exatly 10% of the Zildjian K Custom 17" Dark China ($24.99 vs. $249.99) For me, buying the Wuhan 18" China Cymnal ($29.99) was a no brainer.

Comments about Zildjian K Custom Dark China Cymbal:
I've been playing this cymbal for 2 years now and its amazing. I wouldnt trade it for any other china in the world. I paid full price and I'm glad I did. It's amazing Iv'e been playing drums for 15 plus years, this is by far the best china I've ever owned.
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Dark China Cymbal:
I love zildjian. I have both sizes of zil bels, k custom high hats, and a k custom ride. This cymbal is a HUGE disappointment. I opened the box, and noticed that the china felt a little thicker that most chinas I've played. I put in on my set and tried it. It has a terrible "pang" sound that doesn't even sound like a cymbal. You have to hit it at least 3 time as hard as you can to get it to open up at all. It doesn't soumd like the sound clips at all. Most zildjians are great, but this isn't even worth considering/ I mean it. go find another china, this one shouldn't even be on your list to consider. ITS CRAP. IF you buy it, you'll just have to deal with the hassle of returning it.
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Dark China Cymbal:
This china has a lower tone than the Zildjian A china but they seem to have the same quality of sound so I feel it's more than what it's worth. Good to find a used one though.
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Dark China Cymbal:
I play in a hardcore/screamo band and this china is perfect for the style. all you hardcore drummers looking for a good sound for offbeat effects this is the one. i've been with this band for 3 years and professionally touring for 1 year, trust me, i have been through a lot of chinas. but i think i found one i actually don't feel like throwing away after a show.
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Dark China Cymbal:
I bought this cymbal (19" Zildjian K Custom Special Dark China) about a month ago. I got it used for $***. Barely used at that. It has an amazingly dark, raw, trashy tone that everybody craves. I had a week long gig the day after I bought it and I got to fully test it out. It bites like no tomorrow. It also sounds amazing when recorded. BUY IT!

Wow. I heard this cymbal and fell in love again. Sounds perfect for any kind of music. It's a lil bit loud, but u cant beat the quality.
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Dark China Cymbal:
I have been playing drums for over 26 yrs. I have played all types of music, and purchased it and owned for about one year before trading it in for a 18 inch swish. I found that this was not sudible for dynamics at all. I need to have a special effect cymbal for simple crashes and for a light to heavy both rides. The K was too strong and was not for my playing styles. I like to use cymbals that are versatile for all music styles. Soft, or loud. The K was horrible for that application. For all you hard rocker, not playing anying else. This is the one. For more toned down players where soft to loud dynamics are inportant. Save your money on this one. Buy the swish. By the way I have been using zildjian for 24 yrs. A
